We are expanding our Amsterdam based Tech hub to support the continued growth of Disney+ and as a result, are looking for talented Engineers to join the team.


Disney Streaming Services Broadcast Engineer in Charge acts as shift supervisor and is responsible for troubleshooting high-level technical issues. EIC’s are responsible for escalating pertinent issues to upper management as they occur. EICs are required to check in with all other Broadcast Engineers during their shift to get status updates on the integrity of Disney Streaming’s inbound and outbound broadcast feeds. EICs are required to have advanced knowledge of all of Disney Streaming signal flows and technologies. EICs need to have a strong understanding of networking and troubleshooting broadcast equipment. EICs work in Disney Streaming’s transmission operations center, which is the hub of all signal acquisition and transmission before being distributed to end-users.

The work will be based out of our Amsterdam TOC and shift times will vary.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Provisioning, routing and quality control of multiple inbound and outbound feeds via TS over IP, satellite and fiber transmission methods.

  • Working with remote techs to ensure successful game acquisitions from professional sports arenas.

  • Setting up events for current and following shifts.

  • Completing an engineering checklist, updating excel spreadsheets, writing an end of shift technical report and other required tasks.

  • Analyzing and rectifying technical faults with any terminal or remote gear.

  • Understanding signal flow and CAD drawings.

  • Identifying and implementing alternative ways of meeting acquisition and transmission requirements to cover equipment failures, with minimum loss of service.

  • Investigating new techniques and workflows to increase efficiency.

  • Handling and maintaining requests from multiple internal departments and properties throughout a shift.

  • Communicating effectively with one’s own team, project members and property representatives on a daily basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of four years of prior experience in broadcast engineering, master control or QC/acquisitions field.

  • Experience with PC and Mac operating systems.

  • Advanced computer networking skills.

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to formulate technical notes in an organized manner.

  • The ability to work well in a team atmosphere.

  • The ability to retain information at a rapid pace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operational experience in live transmission/acquisition, master control or live Internet streaming.

  • Working knowledge of SD/HD-SDI, ASI, MPEG, J2K signal types.

  • Working knowledge of transmission and receiving equipment and systems.

  • Working knowledge of analog and digital audio signals.

  • Experience with Evertz, Grass Valley, Ross, Ateme, Sencore, Cisco and other leading manufacturers in routers, switchers and terminal gear.

  • Experience in similar fast paced environments.
