Responsibilities

  • Act as owner’s representative for large capital expansion projects.  Liaise with Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Site Leadership, Facilities Operations Services (FOS), and operations stakeholders.  Collaborate to develop best value solutions that balance first cost, lifecycle cost, maintainability, and operational requirements.  Document learnings and best practices and incorporate into company standards and subsequent projects. 

  • Establish and maintain relationships and leverage resources with organizations and stakeholders at local site, as well as other sites within the segment to drive consistency and optimization of workload and work product within in the segment.  Understand business needs and requirements, and work to develop design solutions to address.  Ensure work is managed and aligned with Resort priorities. Support other organizations and sites with subject matter expertise.

  • Represent DLR on committees that develop and maintain the Disney Master Guide Specification, design standards.  Provide context, interpretation, and help enforce. 

  • Participate in the development of the annual asset improvement and maintenance plan (known as Integrated Facility Planning, or IFP) for the Disneyland Resort.  Advise on project feasibility, code and regulatory drivers and compliance, adherence to company standards, and overall strategy.  

  • Provide peer review and support for others in the A&FE team, serving as a key information source for others, and coordinating with other subject matter experts to provide guidance.

  • Support ongoing site master planning efforts with specific focus on long-term utility master planning.  Work with discipline-specific subject matter experts to develop near-term and long-term plans for the sustainment, replacement, upgrade, and expansion of resort-wide utility systems (electrical, sewer, storm, chilled water, hot water, compressed air, potable water, natural gas).  Coordinate with IFP, long-term capital planning, and expansion/development teams to develop long term plan, strategize implementation, and phasing.

  • Act as a champion and subject matter expert to support various corporate, segment, and department initiatives.  This could include environmental sustainability, process improvements, and other emerging topics.

  • Act as a subject matter expert of California building codes and other applicable regulations.  Code/regulatory compliance/interpretation.  Monitor code development process and emergent topics and advise project/business impact.  Highlight key changes to team members, stakeholders, and leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer Registration in California.

  • 15+ years’ experience in a Facility/Utility Design.

  • 10 years of proven leadership experience of technical groups and multi-discipline teams.

  • Proven record of strong communication and collaboration skills amongst multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping to drive best solution for the business.

  • Proven record of strong leadership and administrative skills.

  • Proven record of strategic and tactical thinking with good coaching abilities.

  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Prior experience in multi-disciplinary design and coordination.

  • Experience in developing alternative design solutions that can be implemented while facilities remain operational with limited access.

  • Experience and ability to work in the field, gather relevant data, assess current condition of facility and develop alternative approaches.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with all phases of scope/program development, design, construction and turnover.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction administration.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of California Building Codes (including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Energy), OSHA regulations, and other relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated business acumen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in a facility or campus engineering role.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or comparable professional experience.

The hiring range for this position in location is $141,614 to $189,970 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
