Job Summary:

As a Senior Safety Professional, you will serve as a key technical resource for our construction projects and/or design reviews.

You will be responsible for the development, implementation, and sustainment of key safety programs for their designated projects and sites, as well as the guest and cast members' safety in the completed facility. You will have a consistent track record of independently driving above-average incident reduction results achieved through the development and implementation of targeted safety strategies and tactics.

Responsibilities

This role requires you to use your technical judgment to assess, analyze, identify and solve a broad spectrum of safety issues across large-scale and complex job sites that will involve a diverse group of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts businesses and contractors.

You will drive results by providing input to the project design review, implementation of safety programs, performing hazard assessments, analyzing injury and illness trend data, evaluating safety performance, reviewing source material and identifying opportunities to continuously improve safety performance. The Senior Safety Professional must be knowledgeable of applicable safety standards and when necessary, be able to resolve complex issues outside of established regulations.

In this role, you will develop strong relationships and work as part of a team within a fast-paced, matrix environment with all levels of leadership, employees and third part personnel.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of general safety experience, preferably within construction to include heavy construction or structural/building construction

  • Certified Health & Safety Technician

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and practices including trenching, scaffolding, fall protection, electrical, cranes, heavy equipment, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to use analytics and identify trends

  • Proven project management experience

  • Determined and resourceful professional with the ability to solve problems outside area of expertise

  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to operate within an ambiguous and changing environment

  • Proven strong planning, organization and prioritization skills

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations

  • Demonstrated strong consultative and influencing skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual language skills.

  • Completed OSHA 500 or current trainer authorization in effect

  • Proven experience in delivering broad spectrum training, from site orientation to specific high hazard topics

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Education

  • Degree in Occupational Safety or equivalent

  • Certified Health & Safety Professional preferred

  • Master’s degree
