This role is based on Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

As Island Demi Chef De Partie, you will prepare mise en place for Island Crew daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You will also help prepare bread, rolls, cookies, and other pastries for Crew buffets

You will report to the Island Chef De Partie


Your Responsibilities – How You Will Make a Difference

  • Must be competent in the Cold Pantry, Hot Kitchen and Pastry/Bakery.

  • Manage galley ordering and stock control in partnership with Island Chef de Partie

  • Along with Island Chef de Partie and Second Stewards, perform opening and closing procedures for overall Crew galley and production areas

  • Monitor sanitation laws and procedures, ensure compliance along with Island Chef de Partie and Stewards

  • Follow recipe standards, correct usage and care of equipment, proper storage and stock rotation along with compliance with all standard operating procedures

  • Assist the Island Chef de Partie to see that established food quality standards during storage, production and service follow the standard operating procedure

  • Suggest ways to improve the operation

  • Additional tasks designated by leadership

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications – What You Will Bring to the Team

  • Minimum 1 year formal culinary training from an accredited school

  • Minimum 2 years work experience which may consist of an accredited school or recognized apprenticeship OR 3 completed contracts as a Cook 1 or comparable role onboard a cruise ship

  • Operational knowledge and responsibilities within a busy kitchen environment, understanding of cost control, food waste/spoilage

  • Proficient in safe food handling, HACCP and familiar with Bahamian and USPH standards

  • Knowledge and proficiency in following and converting recipes

  • Demonstrate a commitment to a culinary career with a desire to grow within the F&B industry

  • Be willing to follow and embrace Bahamian health requirements and guidelines and safety and environmental requirements administered by our company

Additional Information:

This role is based on Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

You must:

  • Be receptive to island life – living and working on a remote island

  • Be legally authorized to work in the Bahamas

  • Be willing to follow and perform safety roles, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the Island Safety Plan

  • Be willing to be appreciative of working and living in a multi-cultural environment

  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations

Your Responsibilities:

  • Obtain a criminal background check

  • Bring approved work shoes

Disney Cruise Line is a drug-free workplace. All new hires are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week upon arriving on the island and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass the drug/alcohol testing will result in immediate termination.
