This role is based on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance Technicians may have responsibilities in one or all of these areas:
  1. A/C & Refrigeration Mechanic/Electrician
    • Maintain and repair all kitchen, refrigeration, A/C and plumbing equipment
    • Maintain and repair all electrical components related to outboards, engines, and wave runners
    • Order and maintain spare parts for above equipment
    • Assist with provisioning of materials to and from the ship on a call day
    • Complete preventative maintenance orders
  2. Plant Operator
    • Maintain and repair all equipment located and connected to the Plant operations
    • Maintain and repair diesel engines and generators
    • Adjust electrical power supply and understand how to connect and disconnect generators to mainline
    • Maintain and repair reverse osmosis systems to produce drinking water
    • Adjust and control all chlorine levels for drinking water and reuse water plan
    • Be able to measure all chlorine levels according to standards
    • Maintain all equipment according to preventative maintenance schedules
    • Able to repair electrical equipment
    • Maintain and repair all bunkering equipment such as pumps, pipe line, valves, etc.
    • Maintain and repair waste water plant
    • Keep work areas, tools and store rooms neat and organize
  3. Vehicle Mechanic
    • Maintain and repair all vehicles on the island, including trams, pargos, gators, tractors and heavy machinery
    • Maintain and repair crew boat engines, outboard engines and wave runner engines
    • Fill out preventative maintenance orders
    • Purchase and maintain spare parts for all vehicles
    • Overhaul different types of engines
    • Perform body work on damaged vehicles, including welding and painting
    • Assist with provisioning of materials to and from the ship on call days

Maintenance Technicians will also have these responsibilities:
  • Complete daily checklists
  • Assist in Hurricane preparedness and evacuation procedures (will be trained on this)
  • Execute additional job responsibilities, as assigned by DCL leadership, based on operational need
  • Comply with all company set policies and procedures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three to four years experience as A/C Mechanic and Electrician, Plant Operator or Vehicle Mechanic
  • Diploma or certificate supporting training as A/C Mechanic and Electrician, Plant Operator or Vehicle Mechanic
  • Ability to read, write and carry out mathematical calculations as required
  • Waste water treatment plant experience (for Plant Operator)
  • Diploma or certificate supporting training in maintaining and repairing diesel engines (for Vehicle Mechanic)
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Willingness to live on an island with approximately 100 other crew members
  • Willingness to commit to an island contract
  • Be able to adhere to Disney Cruise Line appearance guidelines
  • Enjoy working in a guest-service oriented environment
  • Be flexible with your work schedule and job duties
  • Appreciate diversity among guests and crew

Additional Information:

  • Be genuinely interested in living and working on a private island in the Bahamas
  • Be committed to the position you are applying for at least 2-3 contracts before a transfer or promotion
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency duties and/or associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing and able to uphold the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • Be willing to follow and embrace United States Public Health requirements and guidelines as well as Environmentality requirements and Company practices
  • Be willing to share a cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multi-cultural environment
  • Be comfortable living in a confined space with strict rules and regulations
  • Adhere to a structured lifestyle, personally and professionally

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and obtain necessary visas (DCL will provide you with documents for this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes

**Disney Cruise Line is a drug-free workplace. All new hires are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass the drug/alcohol testing will result in immediate termination.
