Job Summary:

DTCI Global Video Networking focuses on providing global connectivity and IP infrastructure services in support of DTCI and the Media Networks business. This includes all aspects of architecture, video systems interconnectivity, and the network, security and transport engineering across our local (LAN), wide-area (WAN), public (Internet), and fiber (transport) networks as we continue to build out and support a global video network.

The Senior Manager of Network & Security Engineering plays a key role in Designing, Developing and Building scalable and secure network fabrics in support of critical business services at DTCI. This individual will participate in Designs, and ultimately help build the gold standard of network & security solutions and services aligned with current and future requirements for the Broadcast, Digital Media, WAN and Corporate Data Center services. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for managing team resources and providing technical oversight across projects and operational activities, which provide and promote scale, automation, and improve support using a repeatable approach. This individual will help establish cohesive network engineering frameworks, utilizing industry best practices and techniques. The Senior Manager will be expected to identify and articulate business solutions and the supporting network and security infrastructure to Business Leaders. The Senior Manager will assist in improving the availability, integrity, and capabilities of solutions by contributing to the development of appropriate architecture standards and security best practices. The Senior Manager will develop the engineering and operational rules, processes, and procedures, which are in alignment with various service owners across the organization. The senior manager will recommend solutions across all levels of the organization. This role also demands ensuring the applicable network systems are running 24/7 and meet operational expectations. This position will be aligned under the DTCI - Technology - Media Engineering Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of technical resources across architecture, engineering and operations to provide leadership and guidance for engineering projects, current technical operations and across other Network & Security projects and services
  • Ensure that the Network & Security technology infrastructure is fit for purpose, and in line with the service and technical needs of internal infrastructure partner organizations
  • Provide network & security engineering input into the Architecture & Strategy for network and security systems and performing quality assurance on projects delivered by ESPN’s strategic partners
  • Work with cross-functional teams to map user requirements to detailed technical requirements for network infrastructure
  • Participate in establishing technical Network & Security KPIs and SLAs for internal ESPN systems, as needed
  • Will collaborate with the Information Security team to maintain a high level of compliance with deployed systems and services
  • Manages Network & Security team resources and provides technical oversight across projects and operational activities
  • Develops the engineering and operational rules, processes, and procedures, which are in alignment with various service owners across the organization
  • Performs supervision of tasks associated with the maintenance, installation and changes to the network and security infrastructure for ESPN's global network
  • Identify network solutions for improving network performance, scalability, availability, reliability, reporting and monitoring
  • Analyze complex network environments and identify risks and mitigation strategies across the organization
  • The Associate Director of Network & Security Infrastructure will have managing responsibilities with a team of at least two people as direct reports


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of technical experience in the network and security field with demonstrated experience leading technical teams in a role supporting a multi-location enterprise network environment
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience developing business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for network & security spending and initiatives
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining large enterprise networks for delivering Digital Media, Broadcast, and IT functions
  • Experience with Enterprise network design, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis
  • Experience designing and building scalable, high availability WAN topologies in support of real-time audio, video, and core Technology services
  • Excellent understanding of network protocols in large enterprise networks
  • Experience designing and supporting IP multicast services for video
  • Strong understanding of Information Security principles and best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Network experience in Media and Entertainment business or segments
  • Cisco CCNP and/or CCIE certification(s) in relevant area
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a role supporting a multi-location enterprise network environment
  • Minimum of 8+ years of technical experience, including 6+ years of technical and troubleshooting experience to include progressively complex networking and security experience, and hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, and F5 network & security platforms
  • Previous management experience in a technical environment leading a multidiscipline technical team

Required Education

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field

Preferred Education

  • M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field
  • Cisco CCNP and/or CCIE certification(s) in relevant area
