- This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.

We are the Content Platforms team with a mission to “reimagine the technical ecosystem that empowers The Walt Disney Company to harness its unparalleled storytelling and distribute it around the world.” Content Platforms is part of the Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution (DMED) segment which is responsible for The Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in conjunction with ESPN; Disney+, the Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service; global advertising sales and ad technology for all of Disney’s media properties, including ABC, ESPN, Freeform, FX Networks, National Geographic and the Disney Channels; Hotstar, the leading over-the-top streaming service in India; and the Company’s majority ownership stake in Hulu.

  • Build and operate a linked data ecosystem for content-related metadata describing creative works, videos, and images within The Walt Disney Company.
  • Directly impact the quality of data used throughout Disney platforms and products.
  • Build scalable, maintainable, and well-tested software solutions in Java, node, python, and more
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across our various platforms
  • Be involved in code reviews and architecture reviews for team members.
  • Participate in Agile methodology and SCRUM processes such as Sprint Planning, Backlog grooming, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives with the team.
  • Communicate and work with multi-functional business partners.
  • Any other duties needed to help achieve Business Objectives

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong understanding of OO design patterns and concepts
  • Experience with all aspects of the software development Lifecycle, including best practices like unit testing, code reviews, and documentation
  • A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services
  • Passion for learning with new technologies and tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS or other cloud technologies
