Job Summary:ABC Entertainment Group develops and produces compelling programming for broadcast on ABC in addition to other television and digital platforms. The group includes ABC Entertainment, which is responsible for all network primetime and late-night entertainment programming. ABC’s viewing experience is enhanced through a variety of innovative and award-winning digital entertainment platforms, including a full-episode player on ABC.com and an iPad app, and extends to more than 1,000 platform partners worldwide via Disney Media Distribution.
The ABC Entertainment Current Programming team oversees all scripted current shows for the ABC Network once it has been picked up to series.
Responsibilities:This internship provides a first-hand look at how the Current Programming department guides all current scripted series from the time the show is picked up through the entire run of the series. The Current department works closely with the writers and producers of each show, as well as the studios that produce them. Current also functions as the liaison and champion for ABC’s current shows as we collaborate with other departments across the network, from Marketing to Scheduling to Business Standards & Practices (to name just a few).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Reading story areas/outlines/drafts, and writing coverage/summaries for weekly Current Report.
-Distribution of various documents and media internally.
-Creating copies of scripts and dubs of DVDs.
-Supporting Current Assistants and Coordinator with desk and phone coverage.
-Assisting with office duties such as copying, faxing, filing, creating show binders, archiving show files, and final episode DVD’s.
Basic Qualifications:What you bring to the role:
-Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
-Proven skills utilizing MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
-Previous internship experience within a related field.
-An interest in scripted television, and hunger to learn about network television in particular.
-Strong interest in Television and the Entertainment Industry.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Responsible, dependable, and organized with excellent communication/writing skills.
-Must be able to listen and take direction well, as well as be able to follow through independently with a project once assigned.
-Must be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments by deadline.
-All candidates must be eligible to work in the US.
-All candidates must be at least 18 years old.
-All candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship.
-All candidates must be available during the months of January to May for the Spring internship program.
-All candidates must be available to work 40 hours/week in Burbank, CA on a Monday through Friday daytime schedule.
-All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
-All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:-Junior or Senior-level standing college student, Graduate student, or a recent graduate within 6 months of graduation date.
-Experience in covering phone lines for executives and/or senior leadership.
-Knowledge of current series on ABC and other networks.
