The Global Security Strategy, Budget & Communications team is responsible for managing the team’s strategic initiatives as set by executive leadership; the department-wide budget process; Global Security’s governance and auditing program; and all departmental communications needs including executive and internal communications, marketing of Global Security services to the Company, and TWDC’s global employee awareness program, Community Watch (CW).

Responsibilities:

A Day in the Life…
The Employee Communications & Strategic Projects Intern will support the Global Security Strategy, Budget & Communications team with key department-wide initiatives and employee communication and engagement efforts. We are looking for someone with creative and outside-the-box ideas, keen attention to detail, an eagerness to learn and to lead projects through to fruition, and a contagious positive attitude. This intern will:
  • Provide event management and planning support for department events including town halls, networking and social events, volunteer activities, and learning and development opportunities, as well as general TWDC employee events such as resource fairs and Community Watch special events
  • Assist with writing/editing internal and executive communications
  • Serve as project manager and writer of the Global Security newsletter and web portal
  • Provide support as needed on key departmental initiatives, including the Global Security Mentoring Program
  • Assist with creating and editing project plans, reports, presentations, etc. in support of team or departmental strategic projects or executive requests
  • Conceptualize and create surveys related to events and initiatives, and provide thoughtful insights and recommendations based on results
  • Track metrics related to employee communications efforts, including newsletter readership and web portal activity, and provide regular reports, analysis, and recommendations based on results
  • Contribute new ideas for continuous improvement related to any of the team’s initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven writing and editing skills
  • Proven ability to manage through conflict, complexity, and to problem-solve issues to resolution.

  • Proven examples of proactive and self-motivated work
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Experience working in a professional office environment, preferably a large company
  • Proficiency with Mac iOS and Microsoft 365 products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with WordPress or similar content management system
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

Required Education

  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Currently earning or within six months of graduating with a degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.

Additional Information:

  • The approximate dates of this internship are June 2020 through January 2021
  • Candidate must be available to work part time hours (approximately 29 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Housing: Interns must provide their own housing for the duration of their internship program.
  • Transportation: Interns must have reliable transportation to get to and from work for the duration of their internship program.
