Consumer Data Manager

Are you interested in changing the future of television? The media industry is undergoing rapid change, and Disney-ABC Television is building new capabilities for direct-to-consumer engagement that will enable us to compete in this dynamic new marketplace. The Consumer Engagement team is responsible for innovating and developing the strategies and capabilities to directly address our fans to build relationships and retention.

Disney-ABC Television is seeking a Manager, Consumer Data, to join the Consumer Experience team. This role will partner with Data, Engineering, and Marketing teams to integrate media, email, and analytics systems with customer data, and to deploy advanced segmentation, targeting, and automation processes. The Manager will act as a liaison between Technology and Consumer Engagement teams to provide requirements on database integration initiatives including data hygiene, structure, and bringing in new sources of data. You will develop a clear point of view on the direction of consumer data profile management for personalized engagement, especially with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Disney/ABC’s DMP (data management platform). Ultimately you will be responsible for designing and managing the quality of consumer profiles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a business and technical understanding of current systems integrated with addressable consumer data and their respective stakeholders
  • Influence the build of a scalable consumer profile database through implementation of identity graph in collaboration with Consumer Data and Analytics teams to map consumer activities and attributes across touch points
  • Help the engineering team with strategies and techniques for consumer profile management, consumer segmentation, personalization and targeting.
  • Act as data strategist and taxonomist in partnership with Consumer Engagement team to recommend and guide implementation of data sources into DMP
  • Collaborate with enterprise data governance and master data management team to establish proper data standardization process and smooth cross platform integration
  • Ensure data integrations are working while qa’ing data and ensuring privacy and security requirements from Legal are met. Provide relevant business requirements to key partners (such as Engineering) in doing so.
  • Coordinate with Consumer Data and Analytics team to derive business metrics and present through intuitive and insightful visuals
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to align services and optimize resources to ensure speed and quality of delivery
  • Guide data capture efforts across marketing and consumer engagement touch points
  • Leverage partnerships within The Walt Disney Company to gain access to new audiences via databases, publishing apps, owned and operated websites and social platforms
  • Partner with stakeholders to provide visibility, solicit feedback, and set expectations on project schedules and milestones
  • Participate in user requirements and specification meetings; produce user specification documentation based upon partner business requirements and work closely with internal teams (Engineering, Data) and external vendors to coordinate efforts and meet deadlines
  • Continue to provide ongoing feedback on process and make recommendations to process evolution when appropriate. Troubleshoot and resolve barriers in a timely and effective manner

Basic Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge of technologies and processes involved with the following technology platforms:
    • Data Management Platforms (ie Oracle, Krux, Turn, etc.)
    • Data visualization tools and techniques (i.e. Tableau, BIRST etc. Understanding charts, graphs etc.)
    • Data onboarding vendors (ie LiveRamp, Neustar, etc.)
    • IT database architecture and management
    • Web analytics software (tagging and log file based)
    • CRM management systems
    • Tag management systems (e.g., Tealium)
  • Proven experience providing (high level) technical requirements and features (eg tagging, data architecture and database management)
  • Experience with Master Data Management and/or resolving consumer identities
  • Experience with managing taxonomy and/or metadata
  • Proven track record achieving results in a matrixed and/or sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years in data management solutions experience
  • Direct experience with Oracle/BlueKai or other industry DMP
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies or working in environments where it is employed
  • Experience working with companies dedicated to the development and building of consumer profile models
  • Look at the world through the lenses of data and enjoy working closely with both engineers and executives.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology or related field
