Job Summary:

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) manages Disney’s vast content commercialization and distribution ecosystem that delivers the Company’s unparalleled storytelling to audiences worldwide. This entails P&L management and operation of the Company’s portfolio of streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and the international general entertainment offering, Star; its linear television channels and the ABC-owned stations; theatrical film distribution; content licensing and distribution, including Disney Music Group and the legendary El Capitan Theatre; advertising sales; and the technology that powers these groups. Using a wealth of consumer insights from across The Walt Disney Company, DMED makes content investment and distribution decisions to maximize audience engagement and commercial impact across platforms, collaborating with creative leaders in Disney’s Studios, General Entertainment, International Content and Sports organizations.
The DMED Communications Operations team is seeking an experienced Content Operations Specialist who will work collaboratively with the team to enable DMED’s internal and media communications efforts.


This individual will support the technology, platforms, and processes. The ideal candidate will be both a technologist and communicator at heart and is able to move efficiently between organizing & developing processes, tools, and day-to-day operation of existing technology/platforms. Being organized, persistent, and a problem solver are some key qualities to be successful in this position. A general knowledge of video streaming is required, and an understanding of content sourcing/ingest and processing video files would be a plus.

A primary responsibility will be operating technology platforms for Communications and Publicity team, including a press-facing video content screening site and a press and public-facing website with information about DMED, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+. The ideal candidate must be a solution partner and collaborator with the DMED Communications team and other stakeholders across the company – particularly in Technology, Product and Design teams. This role may also support internal communications platforms as needed.

This role operates in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is paramount.

This position is based in Burbank and will report into the Manager, Communications Operations. Must be available to work some nights, some weekends as needed. This position will also be a hybrid model with offices based in the Southern California area.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in communications or technology-related fields – ideally both
  • BA or BS required, preferably with a background in technology or product-related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to use a ticketing system (Zendesk or similar), especially related to online video and must be comfortable working with technical systems and programs.
  • Experience working directly with technology teams and have a good understanding of media technical terms.
  • Knowledge of Internet-related technologies & software, including content management systems
  • Knowledge of content security protocols, enough knowledge to conduct preliminary investigations when security alerts are triggered, as well as other IT security standards
  • Basic image cropping, resizing knowledge
  • Proven track record of working with highly sensitive content and confidential information
  • Demonstrated project coordination skills
  • Proficient in Office 365 & task management software (ie. Trello)
  • Highly collaborative, ideally with experience in a large matrixed organizational structure
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with maturity and confidence in working with colleagues at all levels in an international environment
  • Organized, detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
  • Flexible, responsive and a multi-tasking team player who is willing to pitch in to help the team meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders, prioritize deadlines and effectively work through challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude, personable and approachable, self-motivated
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently but confident enough to ask for guidance and input when needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on a global team
  • Experience working with metrics/analytics

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
