Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-To-Consumer and International (DTCI) is a new, global business segment for The Walt Disney Company with the mission of providing consumers around the world access to the content they want most, on the latest platforms, at a time of rapidly-evolving consumer habits. Combining the Company’s direct-to-consumer streaming services – ESPN+, the Disney SVOD service coming in 2019 -- alongside Disney’s international media businesses, DTCI aligns cutting-edge technology with world-class content and beloved brands to expand the Company’s global footprint and deliver highly-personalized entertainment experiences to diverse consumers around the world.

The Coordinator, Originals - Animation will be responsible for supporting the Animation Originals team and for coordinating any originals development and current production for Disney+ Animation. This person will work closely with various departments and studios within TWDC, with talent (artists, writers, directors, animators, etc.) and with international partners.


  • Maintaining tracking grids of project updates across all animated content (feature films, animated series, non-scripted animation and short form projects) through constant communication with key Disney stakeholders.
  • Supporting departmental projects as needed including preparing PowerPoint presentations, internal grids and additional research assignments.
  • Supporting senior executives in the daily management of assigned series development projects, including compiling and relaying story notes on projects in development.
  • Reading incoming script and book submissions and providing thoughtful feedback and evaluation for the team to consider.
  • Helping to identify new creative opportunities (new writers, books, short films, articles, etc) for the department to pursue.
  • Tracking the competitive landscape across television and film, responsible for updating writer/director lists and checking availability through agencies and managers.
  • Creating meeting materials and ensures those materials are prepared ahead of meetings.
  • Listening in on pitches, preparing for meetings, taking notes, building and maintaining relationships across the creative community, finding and developing concepts, and managing the work of internal/external producers.
  • Roll calls & answer phones, maintaining a call sheet for management.
  • Schedule internal & external meetings.
  • Preparing and submitting expense reports. Coordinating domestic and international travel.
  • Representing the department in a professional manner.
  • Liaising with other Disney executives, producers, writers, and other assistants internally and externally.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a Studio, Network, Production Company, Literary Agency or Talent Agency.
  • Working knowledge of the major players in the industry, including the major executives and writers/directors.
  • Strong development history and talent for identifying unique material.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have strong creative and story instincts and exceptional taste.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, a creative mindset, appetite for content.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer proficiency – Mac & Windows: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, KeyNote, Adobe, Illustrator.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, make decisions and change course of action quickly.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work well and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful and flexible.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain strong working relationships and ability to interface with varied levels of management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on many projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive attitude to seek and manage new initiative on behalf of the department as needed.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with excellent follow through.
  • Passion and knowledge of animated content, both domestically and internationally.
  • Understanding of the animation development and production process.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree. Preferably a degree in English, Communications, Cinema/Television or related field.
