Disney/ABC Television Digital Media is a high-performing group responsible for maintaining the day-to-day ecosystem of our digital experiences across a wide range of products and platforms for ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and Freeform – a growing space that includes web, mobile web, apps and OTT – as well as an expanding slate of cable and digital MVPD services. We are seeking candidates experienced in digital content operations to work in the busy and dynamic area of platform operations.

As Specialist, you will provide day-to-day operations management for our content publishing and video products, while working hand-in-hand with internal groups (Product, Marketing, Engineering, Video) and vendors to serve consumers with a comprehensive and user-friendly experience. This includes set up and testing of new products and features, and relentlessly policing our platforms to ensure accurate brand messaging, proper content inventory levels, and a consistent digital experience. The specialist will guide technical resources and vendors as they make appropriate and timely fixes to our apps, and will traffic and respond to operational JIRA tickets.

The right candidate will have working experience in all manner of asset management, digital publishing, and product operations, and your knowledge will enable you to troubleshoot and to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined teams on a regular basis. You must be able to communicate with stakeholders quickly and concisely, and with a professional demeanor. A passion for television and entertainment is a must, while a deep knowledge and love of digital media technology is a plus. The ability to act independently as a decision maker and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment is crucial. Reporting to the Manager of Digital Platform Operations, this position is located in Burbank.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering and quality assurance teams to set up and test new products, features, and devices, as assigned by manager
  • Publish video and artwork collateral using a web-based content management system, and manage changes in network and programming priorities
  • Manage the staging of games and coordination of launch tasks with partner teams
  • Represent the team in project status meetings, and provide updates and next steps
  • Proactively anticipate and mitigate risks as they arise, and serve as a first responder for diagnosing and correcting issues using an internal ticketing system
  • Implement playlist automation and other efficiencies across our digital access points, and ensure proper operation
  • Ensure smooth, timely delivery and publication of content
  • Maintain high video and presentation standards for our sites, and rigorously police our platforms to ensure a superior user experience
  • Ensure metadata integrity by auditing and evaluating against quality standards
  • Become a super-user of system tools and subject matter expert on our digital platforms
  • Perform in-depth, comprehensive video and asset management support to the larger Digital Media team as assigned by manager
  • Participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Digital Media or asset management with an operations focus
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience scheduling and publishing digital media using a content management system (CMS)
  • Previous experience managing external vendors
  • The ability to decipher technical data and issues by looking at XML and API code
  • A demonstrated understanding of video and image technical specs and the ability to communicate on the topic to varied groups
  • Previous experience working with internal Quality Assurance departments and familiarity with bug tracking systems such as JIRA or Dev Track
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and collectively in situations with multiple or conflicting deadlines, and the ability to prioritize requirements and make informed tradeoffs
  • Excellent skills interfacing with management with varying levels of technical expertise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working for a video-centric app, website, or online publisher
  • Previous experience working with an asset management portal, such as iTunes Connect, Hulu Partner Portal, YouTube Channel Manager, or The Platform
  • A self-starter that can execute complex projects with minimal guidance/oversight
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • A functional understanding of traditional television scheduling and operations
  • Working knowledge of web analytics and social media metrics
  • A strong familiarity with digital content lifecycles, from production through distribution (including post-production, QC, packaging, and delivery)

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Communications, Business, Media Management, or equivalent combination of work experience
