Working within the Searchlight organizational structure and reporting to the SVP, Acquisitions & Productions, this role will source and assist in the day-to-day management of feature film projects in acquisitions for theatrical and streaming releases.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior management in the sourcing and management of the company’s slate of feature films by tracking and securing projects, with an emphasis on completed films.
  • In a complementary manner to senior management and the SVP, Acquisitions & Productions, attend and cover film festivals and markets and oversee all logistics of company attendees with objective towards securing available films through pre-buy packages, footage screenings, and finished films.
  • Be across all available films in the independent marketplace through extensive project tracking, market awareness and intelligence, relationships with filmmakers, agents, and financiers. Other duties include: managing competitive sales and talent lists, issuing festival/market priority/wrap analyses, creative notes, production updates. In the absence of a senior executive, be able to represent the studio’s interests appropriately.
  • As the junior exec for acquisitions titles, help facilitate project needs internally and externally .
  • Work with senior management on special projects, competitive market reports, and internal tracking lists with the objective of identifying unique filmmaking voices and materials from a variety of sources.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of deal making experience in acquiring films for a streaming platform or a mini/major studio.
  • Minimum of 7 years of overall experience, with a proven track record in the film industry.
  • Strong and established working relationships across the industry with agents, sales agents and talent including screenwriters, producers and directors.
  • Experience in development and production a plus.
  • In depth knowledge of the film industry and the broader marketplace a must.
  • Appetite and ability to read and watch a large volume of creative content in order to source material and become acquainted with talent and competitive activity.
  • In addition to a strong creative vocabulary and fluent knowledge of story structure, demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an inclusive and collaborative style to successfully work with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to work towards an agreed goal, taking ownership from start to finish.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Demonstrates flexibility coupled with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines within a matrix organization.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team. This role does not have direct reports.
