Director, Communications Operations

Job Summary:

The International Content and Operations group is responsible for developing and producing local and regional entertainment and sports programming outside the U.S. for The Walt Disney Company’s streaming services. The group encompasses the Company’s teams in Asia Pacific, EMEA, India and Latin America who manage Disney’s local businesses in each region including international linear channels, regional streaming, local ad sales, and local distribution.

Responsibilities:

  • This position is part of the International & Content Operations business unit.
  • Develop and lead center of excellence that provides innovative and effective communications operations and creative design services to executives, communications team, and key business partners across the international content & operations organization.
  • Assess internal communications platforms and collaboration tools, make recommendations that will better support communications strategy and business objectives while improving effectiveness. Develop implementation plan and manage execution.
  • Resource and manage internal and press-facing communication operations channels and platforms, including:
    • Intranet for the segment and ongoing enhancements of the four regional portals (APAC, India, EMEA, LATAM).
      • Public-facing Media Site with news, content, and features
  • Resource and manage a secure online media screening platform for international press and other business needs, working in close collaboration with content partners and content security teams across the Company.
  • Ensure platform has necessary security protocols in place by developing and enforcing security policies. Educate publicity teams and administrators on ongoing content security measures.
  • Manage creative services needs including a dedicated graphic designer while also working with other TWDC teams and outside resources (consultants, freelancers and agencies when needed) to support graphic and video design needs for Communications team and executives.
    • Develop an internal brand for the segment. Steward the evolution of the brand including ongoing enhancements, applications, additional design and materials as needed to meet the business needs of the communications team, executives and the segment. Ensure alignment and compliance, and maintain the brand as it evolves through time.
  • Direct and oversee production of livestreamed events for segment executives and communications team, while staying up to date on latest industry trends to deliver creative and cost effective solutions.
  • Direct and oversee production of presentations and internal audiovisual content for executives, employees, and live events.
    • Oversee work of team to source and manage all technology related to the production of live events, including screens, video capturing, video streaming, as well as sharing the content on different platforms or mediums during and after each event.
      • Provide creative input and expertise in the creative development and editing of scripts and other internal communications projects.
        • Work in collaboration with regional communication teams, events team and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the design and distribution of various internal email communications for the segment, including executive e-blasts and digital newsletters.
  • Collaborate with regional communications teams, provide insight and recommendations for action based on latest trends and practices across the globe, and identify employee programs and initiatives that could be leveraged across the segment.
  • Monitor global trends and best practices in communications technology to identify opportunities to improve communications platforms and process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 year’s leadership experience in a communications operations or platforms related field
  • Demonstrated experience as a “hands-on” leader with a pragmatic mind-set, who can work as an advisor, consultant, and strategist with the ability to roll up their sleeves and work hard as an implementer
  • Highly creative, innovative, extremely motivated, organized and able to lead team to effectively handle creative pressures under deadlines
  • Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders, think strategically, prioritize deadlines and effectively work through challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with executives at all levels, providing direction and expertise in a diplomatic, professional manner, leading through influence as needed to produce high quality internal Comms and events
  • Flexibility and ability to anticipate change and respond to needs and priorities with agility
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) with strong proficiency, including
  • editorial layout and design, in Word and PowerPoint/Keynote
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented with excellent time management and follow-through on all creative deliverables
  • Apply ingenuity, creativity, analytical, and organizational skills to identify and evaluate design problems and develop strong solutions
  • Desire to exceed expectations of internal clients and design materials that appeal to multiple stakeholders and audiences
  • Positive, flexible, responsive and a multi-tasking team player who is willing to pitch in to help the team meet critical deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Video production and editing experience preferred including knowledge in Premiere and After Effects
  • Strong understanding of digital design, including mobile and responsive landscapes a plus
  • Aware of current market trends in both design and content consumption
  • Knowledge in Agile, Scrum, Kanban a plus
  • Experience working with UI or UX a plus

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
