As part of the Studio Technology team, you’ll be joining a group of seasoned,
dedicated technologists solving a range of creative problems in innovative ways within
an exciting and dynamic industry.

StudioLAB is The Walt Disney Studios' advanced development division for innovation
in creative technologies. Our mission is to drive innovation in support of the creative
process and we are lucky enough to work with the top creative teams and technology
companies. StudioLAB is led by a team of industry veterans with diverse backgrounds
that represent decades of software engineering, film production, theme park design
and gaming development experience.

We are looking for a Technical Lead to join our StudioLAB team: someone who wants
to shape the next generation of creative and production technology and directly help
drive innovation across our cinematic pipelines and theatrical experiences. We are a

Responsibilities:

As the Tech Lead, you will be responsible for defining and overseeing technology
implementations for a variety of production tools in the proof of concept, prototype
and pilot phases of development. You will be responsible for architecture and
documentation of technical specifications and diagrams in collaboration with cross
functional teams throughout our internal organization and with external vendors to
provide technology solutions for the short and long term. At StudioLAB, project
success often comes from creative thinking, decisions that streamline processes,
careful vetting and researching options from internal and external sources, and
maintaining a client and content first approach.

You will partner closely with technology teams across the various banners under The
Walt Disney Studios and provide technical guidance and oversight on the
implementation of new and evolving projects. An ability to be flexible and work in a
dynamic and fast-paced environment is key.

● Understand a variety of technical tools and their capabilities to inform the
selection of the right technology solutions for the provided use cases and user
groups
● Develop and maintain technical documentation for projects. This includes
technical architecture, key integration points, identification of any 3rd party or
open source licensing needs, any associated risks, etc.
● Collaborate with technical teams from across all banners in The Walt Disney
Studios to architect solutions and integrations that are compatible with other
internal systems and adhere to strict Studio Content Protection requirements.
● Maintain a roadmap for ongoing evolution of technology solutions through all
phases of the innovation process.
● Conduct code reviews, propose alternate implementation choices, and help to
troubleshoot issues.
● Distill complex subject matter to simple terms for non-technical colleagues and
stakeholders.
● Proactively stay up to date on emerging technologies and propose
opportunities to integrate these into new or existing projects.
● Proficient with automated building, testing and deployment of code and
continuous integration pipelines.
● Mentor and coach other team members in technologies, software languages,
and frameworks.
● Comfortable working with agile (scrum, kanban) methodologies, firm
understanding of software development lifecycle models, and traditional project
management principles and practices.

● Know the basics of modern digital cinema and the technologies involved with
the production, editing, and finishing of major motion pictures.

Basic Qualifications:

Has in depth knowledge of and skills in:

● Database Applications (PostgreSQL, etc.)
● Database Query Language (SQL, etc.)
● Back-end programming Language (Java, nodeJS, Python)
● C++
● Ability to perform in a fast-paced, time constrained environment
● Experience with deployment and productization
● Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
● Excellent technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

● 8+ years of relevant experience
● Has in experience working in:
● Cloud Technologies, specifically Microsoft Azure
● Unity
● Unreal
● React
● Experience in the media technology industry
● Experience working with AR/VR technologies
● Experience working in database management
Preferred Education
● MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is preferred.
