Job Summary:

The DMED Productivity Engineering team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who has a true passion for creating innovative tools and frameworks. This engineer will help us develop tools that support a large variety of Disney software products on web, mobile applications, and OTT platforms. We are looking for an Engineer who is excited to push the envelope and help grow the members of our team.

Our team is motivated by a desire to continuously improve and create efficiencies within the DMED organization. We are a fast-paced group that takes great pride in creating cutting edge tools, and constantly improving upon them. We do not shy away from tough problems and take delight in solving the hard one's other folks might say are impossible to solve at scale.

Just some of the exciting products we work on include the websites & mobile apps for ESPN & ESPN Fantasy, ABC / ABC News, National Geographic and Marvel Unlimited! We work very closely with these brands and teams and strive to be as close to the product as possible as we are also fans ourselves!

As a member of our team, you will strive to accomplish the following goals:

  • Leading the successful design & implementation of solutions for complex technical problems with DMED engineering teams
  • Owning the development and maintenance of the architecture for frameworks, execution environments, build systems and tooling used across multiple products
  • Providing strategic input on future initiatives with stakeholders and other engineers
  • Define high level project architecture. Communicate architecture decisions to all members of the team
  • Contributing and defining Key Performance Indicators to be used for defining project statuses and effectiveness 
  • Check-in valuable, clean code daily that adds new features and capabilities
  • Becoming a core member of our Productivity Engineering team, helping others increase productivity through innovation, and championing the core value of Disney Quality
  • Developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, execution environments, build systems, and reporting tools
  • Writes codes that establishes and enhances frameworks and design proof of concepts.
  • Coordination of complex tasks with external teams & stakeholders
  • Mentoring junior developers and providing in depth code reviews and technical analysis
  • Providing end-user and developer training on automation tools and frameworks
  • Prioritize, estimate, and define complex projects and tools
  • Coordinate scheduling, updates, and communications with internal and external teams
  • Contributing and defining Key Performance Indicators to be used for defining project statuses and effectiveness 
  • Providing strategic input on future initiatives with stakeholders and other engineers
  • Investigating and resolving any framework, tool or execution environment issues affecting our services
  • Serving as an advanced resource for other software engineers on the team. Collaboration with immediate teams and peers to design complex solutions, peer review code, and suggest optimization

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent training or work experience

  • 7+ years of combined relevant industry experience in a software engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering related technical job

  • 4+ years of experience with test automation and unit testing frameworks

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and collaboration skills

  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Experience working with high-performing teams using Agile and Lean methodologies and frameworks

  • Organized, detail-oriented and able to deliver project tasks on timeStrong verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated, self-starting individual
