You would be responsible for the day-to-day workings of the leader(s) you support. The Media Distribution Legal group negotiates and provides legal counsel for the distribution of The Walt Disney Company’s world-class feature films, television content and online direct-to-consumer offerings. We represent Disney’s expansive portfolio of brands from the Walt Disney Studios (including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Twentieth Century Studios and Searchlight) television entertainment, sports and news (including ABC Entertainment, ESPN, ABC News, Disney Channel/Disney Junior/Disney XD, FX Networks, National Geographic Channel and Freeform), and our innovative direct-to-consumer offerings (including Disney+, ESPN+ and STAR+). The role will be with the legal team supporting Disney Platform Distribution, which is part of the Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution (DMED) division.

It goes without saying that there will be expense reports, travel planning and calendar jockeying, but this job is very much about people, about forming strong relationships with your leaders and co-workers, and about understanding how to leverage the human capital within the Disney enterprise to help your executive(s) flourish. As the “face” of your executives within The Walt Disney Company, your professionalism, loyalty and attitude are a reflection of the office, and as such, are a critical component to its success. Every day as an Executive Support Professional is different! On any given day you might:
  • Read relevant articles from newspapers and industry publications so you are immersed in the mission of the office and can inform your executive when you see something he/she should know
  • Conduct research, fact-check existing work, and prepare regular reports and summaries - you'll have tasks that you "own" completely and will provide regular assistance on others
  • Interface directly with other senior executives and their support teams - your ability to work well with people at all levels is a very important part of your job
  • Review your leader's schedule to build-in time for things like preparing for and traveling to their next meeting
  • Schedule conference rooms, meetings & video chats (including scheduling meetings and calls across domestic and international time zones)
  • Maintaining contact lists, answering phones, photocopying, scanning, and mailing documents; tracking matters and key dates, and entering attorney time in Serengeti
  • Revise and redline Word documents; draft or revise and maintain records of legal correspondence; organize emails and documents for appropriate filing; assist in preparation of PowerPoint presentations; prepare and update Excel spreadsheets (including data entry)
  • Maintain various files, databases, and filing systems for the supported attorneys
  • Assist in review, analysis and reconciliation of invoices and expenses
  • Interface with external parties and internal executives to coordinate meetings for the legal team in a timely and efficient manner maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Manage domestic and international scheduling and travel planning; booking travel; tracking and maintaining department out-of-office calendar for purpose of keeping overall department aware when travel occurs
  • Assist with all general administrative functions such as mailings, filing and organization (both digital & physical)
  • Ensuring all department IT needs are met and supported, ordering office supplies; planning and coordinating department off-sites, special events, etc.
  • Help with meeting preparation, including agenda prep and distribution, making copies of documents and presentations, ordering refreshments, etc.
  • Exercise discretion and the highest level of ethics in connection with confidential information
  • Assist with on-boarding new employees
  • Assist with any special projects as needed

Basic Qualifications:

Here’s what you will need to be successful in this job:
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting executives in a corporate or legal position
  • Experience supporting a number of attorneys or executives at one time and appropriately balancing priorities – in a large law firm or multi-national corporate legal department is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, strong proofreading skills and ability to multi-task effectively
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Responsible, professional demeanor and sound judgment
  • Initiative to learn about the various business units supported by the Legal team and Disney processes and procedures
  • Adaptability to change

Preferred Qualifications:

It would be a plus if you also had these skills:
  • Good knowledge of contract and legal correspondence preparation;
  • Experience working in a large publicly-traded company;

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
