Job Summary:

The Manager, Casting for Freeform oversees casting on all of Freeform’s current series, supports the SVP, Casting on scripted pilots, and manages immigration statuses and visas for all talent on series and pilots. This position supports the SVP, Casting by working to identify new talent as well as managing multiple projects from the initial producer casting session phase through network tests and the talent negotiation phase working hand-in-hand with programming, production and business affairs executives.

Responsibilities:

  • Create talent idea lists for Freeform programs, as well as general casting, on an ongoing basis.
  • Listen to and review pitches from talent representatives as it pertains to current and future casting, and maintain and build relationships with these representatives.
  • Consult with executives, producers and independent casting directors on each project and advise on actors that should be considered for projects and/or development.
  • Scout talent at theater, comedy and film festivals, and showcases for current and future casting ideas and distribute ongoing reports that detail findings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years work experience within the Entertainment space.
  • Demonstrated proactive problem solving skills
  • Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure
  • Ability to assume responsibility, function effectively in team environment or independently, with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge and relationships with stakeholders- agents, talent reps, management, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to function in a demanding environment with competing and changing priorities
  • Ability to recognize a need and take ownership of its completion
  • Ability to work as a team player within the department
  • Shows a passion about working with talent while maintaining professionalism at all times
  • Demonstrates the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including hours outside of the typical business day, and/or on weekends with short notice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in television or as a Casting Associate for network or cable primetime pilots/series a plus.
  • Experience working on the business/strategy side a plus.
  • SAP experience
  • Familiarity with IMDB, Studio System, ESN, VPO, DAX, CastIt Systems are preferable

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
