- This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.

We’re looking for passionate engineering Leader who understands new technologies at a rapid pace. You should be intimately familiar with production systems and be able to anticipate what your engineering team needs next to fulfill the next task. You will lead a lean, agile, self-sufficient team that knows how to operate and that provides production tools and cutting-edge solutions for all of the studios under the Disney umbrella.
To be successful in this role, you must be innovative, a quick learner, have a strong understanding of systems, storage motion picture production workflows, you must also be an excellent communicator and work well in large cross-functional teams.

You lead and collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are designed to be scalable, and easily operated.
You design, and deploy film-maker systems, including on-Prem Show Kits with Cloud hybrid workflows.
You design and deploy systems in production timelines with high availability, and clear observability on-prem and in Cloud.
You serve as an escalation point to troubleshoot and resolve performance and reliability issues in production environments.
You ensure security best practice is at the forefront is embedded in our DNA and in all solutions provided.
You are effective at dealing with change: Able to transition in role or handle a significant modification or technology with minimal ramp-up time and with very little guidance.
You thrive in an outage situation and naturally drive the team towards a solution.
You are comfortable leading initiatives and presenting to large groups.
You comply with corporate policy and remediate any compliance issues.
You have a thorough knowledge of monitoring/alerting tools to improve engineering response times.
You have experience authoring and driving Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) documentation.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
3+ years in managing engineering teams
10+ years implementing solutions supporting Film/TV production with an emphasis on automation and security
Deep knowledge of:
Operating systems and systems management (e.g. Linux, OSX, and Windows)
Data center, network, and show application architectures.
Cloud deployments in Azure and AWS.
Scripting and development languages, including Python, Ruby, PERL, PHP
Playback systems used in visual effects, production and postproduction environments (e.g. Colorfront, Resolve, TweakRV, Clipster)
High performance file systems used in production (OneFS, StorNext, GPFS)
High performance storage solutions used in production (Quantum, Avid, DDN)
Media File Transport Solutions (e.g. Signiant, Aspera)
Hosting virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare, KVM)
Production Security Systems (e.g. key management, encryption, vulnerability management)
Desired practical experience:
Managing highly diverse engineering teams in fast pace environments
Strong project management and resource planning experience
Experience working in Film or TV production environments
Knowledge of VFX pipeline and workflows
Analytical, organizational and decision-making skills
File System or hierarchical file system concepts
Content Management System
Smart, self-driven with a keen focus on and track record of exceptional delivery of innovative solutions
Familiar with public cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud Compute)
Exposure to system management languages (e.g. Chef, Terraform, Ansible)
Operating systems and systems management (e.g. CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows)
