We are adding one more talented manager to our Technology team. In this role, you will lead technical teams that partner with artists, production leadership, technical directors, systems and software engineers, and technology leadership on the design and implementation of foundational infrastructure services motivated by the needs of film production at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

The role of the Technology Manager is to help our team members develop their careers, to help guide engineering teams and projects, and to support the vision and long-term direction of the senior leadership at the Studio. This role is a part of a diverse group of leaders that work together to execute on studio strategies as well as focus on building, developing, and coaching strong teams.

Our teams work at various levels in the foundational platform stack, from defining storage architectures, providing service orchestration and measuring data performance, to developing service level APIs and intuitive user interfaces. All projects have in common the pursuit of simple and performant solutions to complex problems using Agile and DevOps methodologies as part of high-energy, proficient teams.

Technology Managers are highly supportive of each other and their teams, expected to provide project leadership, and learn through experiencing both success and failure. You must be comfortable supporting your team by bringing fresh insight for shared problem solving. Also critical to success in this role is the ability to build trusted relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand their needs and pain points intimately, and deliver relevant solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing technical projects and/or teams with competing priorities
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment with leadership, engineers, and stakeholders to help define and execute on both tactical and top-level strategic goals
  • High level knowledge of systems technology and technical workflows
  • Experience providing career development guidance and meaningful feedback
  • Strong mentorship skills to help guide and build strong teams and long-term technical initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure effective communication of team objectives with leadership, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Solid team leadership and problem solving skills, with a desire to continue to grow in these areas.
  • Must be an effective listener who engages with engineers and stakeholders to understand their requirements and infer practical solutions

Required Education

  • BS or higher in technical field; or comparable industry experience
