Job Summary:

DTCI Design is the unified design org for all customer facing experiences and supporting tools in the Direct-to-Consumer & International Technology org. We provide design and UX deliverables across all apps and websites shipped out of DTCI Tech. Our expertise ranges across interaction, visual, motion, prototyping, and production assets.

Our products cover many flagship brands of the Walt Disney Company, including ESPN, ESPN Fantasy, ABC, FX, Nat Geo TV, Freeform, ABC News, DisneyNOW, Disney.com, Starwars.com, FiveThirtyEight, and many more. A wide range of V1 and iterative projects are shipped on all platforms across mobile, tablet, TV, and web.

As a member of the Walt Disney Company Direct-to-Consumer and International: Design (DTCI) team, you will collaborate with Visual, UX, Product and Engineering teams to bring our products to life through a combination of user interface design, interactive motion graphics, animations, and motion studies. In this cross-platform position you will contribute to our industry-leading apps for mobile, OTT, web, emerging platforms and R&D projects. Our ideal candidate is highly creative, energetic and deeply knowledgeable about the latest design trends and technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Motion Experience Designer is highly skilled in motion graphics and works closely with team members to design the visual interactions for users on cross platform digital products for web, mobile and over the top box units. This person is responsible for rapid visual concepts and prototypes, high fidelity design, production motion assets, and motion studies – while staying true to the world-class quality of each brand. Work must be precise when delivering to the development team. A strong understanding of best practices and development capabilities is a must.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must have at least 2-years experience designing high-fidelity visual and motion graphics
  • Foundational understanding of user-centered design principles and UI best practices across multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android, etc.).
  • Design skills in Adobe After Effects
  • Proficient in Sketch.
  • Self-motivated, problem solver with ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and design skills.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, adaptability, works well with others. A team player.
  • All applicants are required to supply an online portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with over the top UI (Roku, Xbox, Apple TV).
  • Experience within an Agile delivery team to iteratively plan and develop products.
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile applications.
  • Experience within an Agile delivery team to iteratively plan and develop products.
  • Keynote and/or Powerpoint skills.
  • Familiarity with the Disney digital brands and content.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping applications.
  • Experience developing for web or native applications.
  • Experience applying motion to interactive experiences through the use of transitions, navigation and loading of content.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
