Paralegal Manager, Immigration

Overview of Position

The Corporate Legal Immigration Department provides legal advice to all business units regarding U.S. immigration-law matters, prepares the majority of NIV cases in-house, and supervises NIV and IV cases assigned to outside counsel.  The Paralegal Manager is responsible for extensive client-facing communications, review of case documents and initial case assessment for all business-based NIV cases, assignment of cases to senior paralegals, and ongoing monitoring and supervision of the case-preparation process.


Apply U.S. immigration law to evaluate employment-based NIV cases; explain to internal clients all legal requirements of relevant NIV classifications, with emphasis on H, L, O, P, E‑3 and TN; review documents and information submitted by clients for relevance, accuracy and completeness; prepare initial assessment of cases for attorney review; communicate case strategy to business clients; assign cases to senior paralegals; supervise all aspects of case preparation and ensure timeliness of case processing; communicate with team members and clients during all phases of the immigration process (e.g., requesting additional information, explaining potential issues and solutions to clients, providing status updates, and resolving procedural issues); enter data in case-management system and generate analytics reports; analyze OES and O*NET wage data in accordance with U.S. Department of Labor and USCIS regulations; and draft detailed correspondence to clients, beneficiaries and government agencies

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in preparing and filing employment-based NIV petitions, including 5+ years of experience supervising paralegals in all aspects of case preparation for employment-related NIV classifications.  Position requires extensive experience and expertise in USCIS and DOL H‑1B requirements, assessing AC21-extension eligibility, independently performing prevailing wage determinations and actual wage analyses, filing LCAs, preparing public access files and drafting detailed explanatory correspondence.  Successful applicants must possess exceptional analytical and critical-thinking skills, excellent legal research skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently while managing multiple team members, ability to perform calmly and efficiently in an extremely fast-paced environment, and demonstrated experience interacting with a broad range of clients and business areas.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with PERM, I‑140 and I‑485 processes

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in writing, or quantitative/analytical field of study
