Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company’s Corporate Legal Department is seeking a Trademark Paralegal to join the Trademark Team of the Intellectual Property Group. The Trademark Team administers and maintains trademark applications and registrations, and manages trademark proceedings for The Walt Disney Company, its subsidiaries, and affiliates worldwide.

Responsibilities:

Assist Disney's intellectual property attorneys with all aspects of trademark registration matters in US and foreign jurisdictions, including, trademark clearance searches and opinions; trademark prosecution, maintenance and renewals, and conflicts; liaising with outside counsel; researching and gathering evidence; drafting correspondence and legal documents such as affidavits, declarations, and other legal documents for attorney review; initiating and overseeing recordal of assignments, name changes, address changes and other chain of title changes, and preparing related documents as necessary; preparing summaries and running reports; data entry, docketing, and trademark database maintenance; other trademark-related projects and/or other projects, as may be necessary from time to time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years paralegal experience with an emphasis on trademark work
  • Knowledge of foreign and domestic trademark country laws and requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload
  • Ability to handle a high volume of deadline-intensive work
  • Strong follow-up and follow-through skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels, both internal and external
  • Experience with working effectively in a collaborative team-environment
  • Self-starter with an excellent work ethic and commitment to professionalism
  • Ability to recognize and eliminate inefficiencies and promote continuous improvement
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office software programs, Adobe software, trademark database software, billing software, document management software, and online research skills
  • Willingness to learn and use new research materials and practice tools

Required Education

  • BA/BS degree and/or paralegal certificate
