Comprised of Disney’s international media businesses and the Company’s various streaming services, the Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment aligns technology, content and distribution platforms to expand the Company’s global footprint and deliver world-class, personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world. This segment is responsible for The Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in partnership with ESPN; the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service; and the Company’s ownership stake in Hulu. As part of the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment, Disney Streaming Services, developer of the ESPN+ and Disney-branded streaming platforms, oversees all consumer-facing digital technology and products across the Company.

A Day in the Life…

DTCI is looking for a motivated Software Engineer Intern to be a contributor to the company’s consumer facing websites. As part of the Front-end Engineering team, this engineer will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders who develop and maintain Disney.com, StarWars.com, National Geographic Films, and other Disney branded websites. They will actively collaborate with the team in an agile development workflow to build out new features and maintain our sites.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with web development technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Ruby, Python)

• Understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts

• Experience in handling multiple concurrent priorities, strong time management

• Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented and iterative programming environment with a disposition for keeping up with latest technologies

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

• Positive attitude and team collaboration spirit

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
  • Pursuing a degree or a recent grad (within 6 months) in Computer Science, Math, Econ/Business, or Engineering

Additional Information:

  • All students must be eligible to work in the US
  • All students must be at least 18 years old
  • You must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship
  • Must be available to work February/March-June/July 2020
  • Must be able to work minimum of 20 hours a week
  • All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
  • Position is located in Burbank, CA
