Job Summary:

Part of the Studio Entertainment segment of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music monetization: Recorded Music (Walt Disney and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally; and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming and consumer products.

The position’s primary responsibility is the financial planning, analysis, and reporting for DMG’s Recorded Music vertical business. Additional responsibilities will include Proforma analysis of future titles, weekly reporting estimates of key titles, and post-mortem analysis. This position will report directly to a Manager, Finance for Disney Music Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Forecasts (8 annually), and 5 Year Strategic Planning for our vertical business utilizing Cognos (TM1 and Café Reporting)
  • Collaborate with various DMG business partners to perform Proforma analysis of future titles
  • Partner closely with DMG Studio and Media marketing teams to provide strategic oversight
  • Perform quarterly and ad-hoc Post-mortem reports for Senior Management to evaluate performance of current business initiatives
  • Work closely with Accounting partners during quarter close to provide variance explanations and assist with the booking of sales, marketing, and royalty accruals
  • Drive process improvement by working closely with technical teams to continually improve and automate financial processes
  • Exhibits confidence and curiosity mining large datasets in systems such as SAP, Cognos, Business Objects and Tableau, while also expressing enthusiasm in using data aggregation and visual query tools such as Alteryx and Tableau Prep
  • Ad hoc reporting as requested

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of finance or accounting experience with keen interest in Entertainment / Music
  • Strong relationship builder with the ability to autonomously and diplomatically work through problems
  • Excellent communication and leadership skillset with a constructive curiosity to drive change
  • Flexibility in role and duties given the evolving music industry landscape
  • Ability to understand complex contracts and decipher financial terms
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects under tight deadlines
  • Proven ability in utilizing Excel for financial modeling and analysis
  • Experience in enterprise level systems such as SAP, Cognos, Business Objects, Tableau, or experience in similarly related systems
  • Working knowledge in key accounting principles

Required Education

  • Bachelor degree in business, finance, economics or accounting
