Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack – Solutions Architecture

Location: Burbank, CA

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization. DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network and engineering operations, sales, advertising, data, and certain key technology functions worldwide for the Company's content engines. DMED also manages operations of the Company's streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Disney+ HotStar, as well as domestic broadcast and cable television networks.

DMED Technology creates products, platforms, and innovations for the DMED Segment and The Walt Disney Company by driving the strategic development and use of technology, building scalable systems and products to empower our businesses, and engage consumers. In this role you’ll be responsible for implementation and solution design of software that integrates end-user testing/experimentation (A/B Testing), and personalization into our consumer-facing apps and sites such as ESPN, ESPN Fantasy, ABC News, and more.


  • Design and build functionality at the core of our shared frameworks
  • Integration of platform software into various product stacks
  • Approve development plans for new and complex features or products
  • Review code and mentor other engineers
  • Partner with other engineering teams to design forward-looking frameworks for our products

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in web development or software engineering
  • Mastery of HTTP server and proxy technologies such as HA Proxy, NGINX, Apache
  • Extensive experience with Lua, Python, Java/Kotlin/Groovy, NodeJS, and Go programming.
  • Extensive experience with cloud-native technologies such as AWS EC2, Fargate and Cloudfront.
  • Experience with front-end web development technologies and principles
  • Experience with task automation
  • Ability to research, learn, assess, and evangelize new technologies
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Driven and self-motivated
  • 5 years’ relevant industry experience

Required Education:

  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent.
