Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Studios is comprised of a large team of creative professionals who produce and acquire live-action and animated motion pictures, direct-to-video content, musical recordings and live stage plays that tell memorable, life-changing stories. As part of the Studio’s Technology team you’ll be joining a group of seasoned, dedicated technologists solving a range of interesting problems in innovative ways in an exciting and dynamic industry.

Our users span from senior executives at the Studio, to those who plan the marketing of our movies and television shows, to users around the world who manage localization of our content and promotional deals. Our tools are central to the organizational efforts under way to bring all our movie studios into consistent ways of managing the business of our movie production and marketing.

Primarily, your job will be to lead the technical design and development of applications using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React. You will be the team expert on the user interface portion of web applications. You will be the owner of the user interface technical design and expected to produce a high-quality product - as well as lead the other team members in ensuring their code is high-quality. You, along with the other leads, will be responsible for the overall technical design of our systems. This will frequently involve writing and presenting technical approaches and decisions to the team as well as coding and reviewing code every day. Our lead engineers set a high bar not only in communication and leadership but, most importantly, heavily contributing the code that keeps us at the forefront of our industry. As our customers bring us their business problems, you will be a key contributor on solutioning - both today’s solution as well as the directions we set to solve future business problems. You will work with our product owners and our user experience designers, giving your expertise to help our team come to the best answers we can. You will be one of those responsible for our solutions from our team’s initial discussion of the business problem to the final implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

● A minimum of 10 years of software development experience
● Expertise in HTML, CSS, Javascript and React
● Strong knowledge in the latest web development tools and techniques, such as Redux, React Query, Emotion
● Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
● The ability to set technical direction and lead a team of user interface developers in following that direction
● The ability to create a high quality product and to ensure that the other developers’ code is also high-quality

Preferred Qualifications:


●Experience designing software systems and documenting those designs
● Experience with at least one other programming language, such as Java
● Experience with other Javascript UI frameworks, such as Angular
● Experience with native development platforms, such as Swift or ReactNative

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely. A remote opportunity may be possible for qualified candidates under certain circumstances and, if granted, the employee would work remotely on an ongoing basis.
