Job Summary:

The Cross-Platform Development & Growth team is responsible for working with Entertainment and News Programming, Marketing, DMED leadership and Entertainment research and consumer insights teams to grow Entertainment & News audiences across digital platforms to achieve DMED’s strategic goals of increasing revenue and marketing effectiveness.

The Sr Manager, Cross-Platform Development Growth sits on Disney’s Digital Media team within DMED’s Networks group and is responsible for opportunities that drive audience growth and monetization for the Entertainment/News brands in the Digital Media portfolio (ABC, ABC News, Freeform, FX, National Geographic TV and Disney Channel brands, sites, and apps) as well as conversion to SVOD (Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+).

The role will bring together cross functional teams from Entertainment/News and DMED to evaluate various usage and revenue growth opportunities across digital and social platforms. The Sr Manager will partner with DGE Networks, Ad Sales, Product, Growth Marketing and Programming to understand consumer and sales needs, then size and commercialize growth opportunities to ensure the Digital Media portfolio is constantly evolving to serve customers, advertisers, and network partners.

Ideally holding a background in Sales or Audience Development, the Sr Manager will be a key member of the team reporting to the Director, Cross-Platform Development Growth.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Driving the synthesis between consumer experience, content and monetization for the Digital Media Entertainment and News portfolio, the Sr Manager will leverage owned platforms as a place for ad innovation while increasing viewership with existing audience (for example: working with Ad Ops and Sales to determine sponsorship opportunities on digital products for optimal consumer experience). Understand digital viewing trends and behaviors, collaborate with DMED Network partners, and work closely with the Director, Finance and Entertainment/News Programming to recommend network optimization and growth strategies.

  • Champion innovative ways to position the Digital Media portfolio in the marketplace to ensure products stay top of mind with Advertisers, including helping to commercialize Digital Media’s products to help drive sell through and monetization of the core business (for example, explaining the value proposition for Fast channels)

  • Track competitive platforms and digital innovations (product, content, social) across media. Utilize competitive data and insights to inform marketplace-based strategies (for example: ‘Flip to Free’ or Sampling or Unlocking video content)

  • Work with Research to create and communicate digestible insight summaries for Entertainment, News, Sales and DMED Leaders to understand performance and audience behavior. Insights should include the key audience opportunities & content performance based on strengths and weaknesses of our offerings.

  • Work closely with Entertainment Site/App teams, Product (DMED), Growth Marketing and Programming (DMED), Tech (DMED), Ad Sales (DMED) and Marketing (DGE) to drive audience usage/targeting and revenue growth. In addition, partner with the Social teams and Ad Sales to drive usage, engagement, revenue growth strategies and opportunities.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required

  • Min of 5 years professional experience

  • Experience in Digital Media (to include experience in Entertainment and News), likely in an Audience Development, Franchise Marketing, Strategy, Ad Sales or Distribution function

  • Demonstrable experience in growing audience/customer levels and engagement on different media platforms

  • Strong understanding of the digital ad marketplace; experience cultivating relationships with Ad Sales

  • Highly data literate and able to interpret information then develop recommendations to support business decision-making

  • Experience leading others directly and through projects

  • Highly collaborative and able to successfully build productive relationships at all levels

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to communicate ideas and concepts into decks and one-sheets, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Workspace

  • Adept at working with varied stakeholders – programming, research, product, finance, etc. – and able to adapt communication style to different audiences

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and changing environment

  • Passion for entertainment, television, AVOD and SVOD platforms, and emerging media
