The Sr. Security Engineer, IR is part of FIRE, our name for Disney's world-class cybersecurity incident response team. Under the guidance of the Director, Incident Response, FIRE rapidly and efficiently responds to cybersecurity incidents across all Disney brands, companies, and operations, globally. This role triages, analyzes, contains, remediates, and reports on incidents to minimize risk to the Company. It is a critical role in the overall GIS mission; we Secure the Magic!
What you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in responding to cybersecurity incidents.
- A keen ability to investigate complex scenarios, break them down to their base components, then identify, isolate, and communicate problems/issues.
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Superb communication skills (both oral/written), including the ability to clearly communicate technical topics and risk to an audience than can include both engineers and executives.
- Curiosity, inquisitiveness, and a bias towards collaboration.
What you will be doing:
- Leading incident response activities consistent with defined processes and procedures.
- Performing analysis on a diverse set of relevant data sources and providing analytical support to other security teams and partners.
- Crafting runbooks, playbooks and other documentation.
- Developing briefings, reports, and presentations for customers and partners across the organization.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the extended team and key partners.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in incident response, digital forensics, and/or as a security operations center analyst.
- Knowledge of general information security principles, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of common operating systems, networking protocols, databases, and applications.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including the possibility of working nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to function both as an individual with limited oversight as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with building Splunk queries or dashboards.
- Experience with SIEM and/or SOAR platforms, including the development of automations and integrations.
- Familiarity with EDR tools such as Tanium, Crowdstrike, SentinelOne, DarkTrace, Cortex EDR, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP) from both operational and response perspectives.
- Knowledge of scripting language, such as Python.
- Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, GCED, or similar, are preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this remote position is $123,902.00 to $166,210.00 per year. The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $123,902.00 to $166,210.00 per year, in Seattle, WA is $129,806.00 to $174,130.00 per year, and in San Francisco, CA is $$135,710.00 - $182,050.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
