Job Summary:

The Disney Worldwide Shared Services (DWSS) - Credit & Collections Department oversees the credit and collections function for The Walt Disney Company. In this capacity it is the purpose of DWSS - Credit & Collections to maximize profitable sales, optimize cash flow, and minimize bad debt loss by performing all aspects of customer collection and deduction management of the accounts receivable.

Because The Collections Analyst Team provides concise and timely communication to internal and external stakeholders, strong customer service and engagement are key in this role.  The team has a deep understanding of customer-to-cash processes and business models to yield efficient and effective collections.  They also negotiate complex customer settlement and payment plans, focuses on strategic accounts and escalates dispute resolution.

A Day in the Life...

As a Collections Analyst Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Identify and manage collection trends that delay collection and provide guidance in order to avoid bad debt loss

  • Identify and resolve procedural and operational issues which could adversely affect collection of the accounts receivable

  • Contribute to the completion of monthly and quarterly reports, reserve recommendations, and consolidated accounts receivable reporting

  • Discuss with customers their business plans, credit risk, payments, risk mitigation, and process improvements

  • Work with business partners to implement appropriate strategies for managing the collection of the accounts receivable and resolution of disputes in support of North American Disney Businesses

  • Collaborate with Disney Business Leaders to mitigate risk to the accounts receivables and future revenue while keeping abreast of industry, market, and business conditions

  • Work with a team to lead in execution of escalated collection and dispute resolution of technical, account, and procedural challenges - collaborate and solve problems

  • Prepare and present Analyst presentations

(Required Qualifications)

  • Strong interests in data analysis, accounting and business finance analysis and experience in related role or school coursework

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, with specific skills in Excel

  • Suburb analytical, research and problem solving skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Possesses a drive for process improvements and the ability to problem-solve

  • Able to successfully multi-task, prioritize and work independently; quick and eager learner with a “can-do” attitude

  • Highly detailed oriented, able to take effective notes and possess strong organizational skills

  • Always ready and willing to offer assistance and be a dependable team player

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service and partnering skills

  • Able to be flexible and handle a multitude of urgent matters and last minute requests

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

  • Passion for The Walt Disney Company and our products, offerings and services

(Preferred Qualifications) 

  • Advance Excel skills with a knowledge of V-Lookups, Pivot Tables and/or SQL

  • SAP Experience

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Required Education:

  • Must be enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student at an accredited college/university, or have graduated within the last 6 months

  • Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree (or recent graduate) in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related field of study

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Program 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization 

Additional Recruitment Information: 

  • The approximate dates of this internship are January 2024 – June 2024.

  • This internship is located in the Orlando, FL area.

  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship.
