Job Summary:

This dynamic role works closely with Operations, IT and Finance contacts from around the Company, to lead the Wire Processing and the Corporate Balance Sheet Accounting teams. The Wire Processing team is responsible for processing manual wire payments, settling intercompany payables and preparing cash flow reports. The Corporate Balance Sheet Accounting team is responsible for the quarter end close deliverables and the on-going accounting for the Corporate segment’s balance sheet. This person will also assist internal customers with inquiries relating to these areas as well as lead projects, such as business continuity and process improvement projects. Lastly, this person will directly manage the work of 3 hourly cast members and 2 salaried cast members.

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will have some project management experience along with accounting and direct supervisory experiences managing both transactional and analytical work flows

Responsibilities:

The Manager position will be primarily responsible for the following key functions:
  • Lead, direct and manage a team of 3 hourly cast members and 2 salaried cast members
  • Review various journal entries related to stock options, deferred compensation, pension, insurance captives, deferred income, prepaids, intangibles, risk management and employee center sales
  • Create, lead and manage efficient process improvements in wire processing and balance sheet accounting
  • Support and assist partners/ internal customers with inquiries relating to wire processing and balance sheet accounting
  • Review and manage quarter end reporting relating to balance sheet flux analysis, significant reserves, investments and insurance captives
  • Support the settlement of intercompany balances by approving the netting and settlement of invoices
  • Review and approve account reconciliations
  • Certify SOX and MCS controls
  • Review and manage the government reporting processes
  • Partner with external auditors on audit of the Walt Disney Foundation
  • Develop and deliver training to new and existing Cast Members
  • Assist with ad hoc projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years management experience supervising accounting professionals
  • Previous direct supervisory experience required
  • Experience in balance sheet accounting and corporate reporting
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing internal customers expectations using strong customer service and partnering skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and continuous improvement skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to handle high volume work in a deadline driven environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Shared Service experience
  • Process improvement
  • Public Accounting
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with SAP
  • Major computer systems implementation experience
  • CPA

Required Education

  • BS in Finance, Accounting or related field

Preferred Education

  • Bachelors in Accounting
  • Masters in Accounting
