Public Relations Manager, Editorial Content – Disney Cruise Line

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for ensuring editorial excellence across all Disney Cruise Line Public Relations channels. The PR Manager will plan, write, edit and proofread flawless content that is strategically crafted to convey key messages and expertly tailored to the ever-changing demands of editorial public relations. The manager will be expected to generate positive editorial coverage across national, regional and local media. They will bring benchmark strengths in creative and news writing as well as copy proofing and editing, paired with a keen ability to forge positive working relationships with reporters, editors and other news professionals. Writing for news is a critical factor, including a proven ability to identify, craft and pitch newsworthy stories.

The manager will also support strategic campaign planning, project management, creative content development, and media relations for our expanding fleet of cruise ships and tropical Disney destinations. This position reports to the Public Relations Director.


  • Writing and editing: Talent for crafting and editing a wide range of materials to the highest of standards with a keen eye for detail. Proven ability to adapt to different styles, including press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, key messages, talking points, video scripts, social copy and more.
  • Storytelling: Extensive experience identifying stories and pitching story ideas to editors, business leaders and partners.
  • Building relationships: Proven track record of establishing productive business connections with media contacts and securing coverage in new outlets and platforms.
  • Production: Background in producing and partnering with others to create multimedia assets such as photography, video and digital materials to support media advocacy and editorial storytelling.
  • Diversity and inclusion: All DPEP communication reflects the company’s commitment to Inclusion and the PR manager must maintain this throughout planning, creation and delivery.
  • Business acumen: Able to align stories, messaging, campaigns and other work with broader business objectives, strategies and goals.
  • Project management: Experience executing tactics from start to finish (including announcements, stunts, productions, events and more), managing budgets and measuring results.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience in communications, journalism and/or public relations
  • Portfolio of work showcasing editorial content as well as creative writing samples
  • Excellent knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines
  • Able to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, often after hours and on weekends
  • Available to travel for projects, working remotely or on-site
  • Ability to handle confidential information

Earned and Owned Media:
  • Deep knowledge of the earned media landscape
  • Extensive experience writing for news and/or public relations
  • Experience working with media, including digital, broadcast and print
  • Understanding of social media platforms, concepts and strategy

Business Acumen:
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter
  • Proven experience in multi-tasking and working effectively under pressure
  • Able to develop and share creative, innovative ideas
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to work
  • Proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Must possess excellent networking, partnering and organizational skills
  • Able to work comfortably with Cast Members at all levels
  • Able to work in an environment that promotes and celebrates diversity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Disney Cruise Line
  • Understanding of the cruise and travel industries
  • Command of Adobe Creative Suite or other design apps
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
