Job Summary:

The Senior Sales Manager focuses on developing new group meeting and event business opportunities for the Walt Disney World Resort. In this role, you will identify and convert targeted meeting opportunities through a variety of sales activities including in market travel. The ideal candidate is a dynamic senior sales professional with group and convention business experience. This individual will possess the ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans and sales initiatives against an assigned market. This role is responsible for driving high revenue meetings to the Walt Disney World Resort. The candidate must have strong business acumen, meetings expertise and hospitality sales experience is required.

You will report to the Sales Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Disney brand in all internal and external client interactions
  • Develop meeting opportunities through new business solicitation, sales calls, tradeshow, and other sales activities
  • Develop individual sales plan against assigned vertical market
  • Efficiently use space within our resorts and our theme parks
  • Conduct site inspections and product orientations
  • Negotiate contracts that fairly meet Disney's and the client's needs – representing the best interests of all the lines of business (Food & Beverage,, Operations, Disney Event Group etc.)
  • Develop creative meeting and event solutions representative of the Disney brand
  • Ensure no more than 24 hour turn around for internal and external client communications
  • Manage contracts, room blocks, and credit terms and approvals
  • Use systems to maintain accurate records, initiate reports, and monitor sales activity
  • Participate in ongoing training seminars to further enhance current skills
  • Knowledgeable of the Disney Advantage tools and uses them to create solutions for our clients
  • Manage personal sales productivity, ensuring that it is reflected correctly on sales reports and observing SUCCESS guidelines on a monthly basis
  • Participate in a local or regional industry (vendor or hospitality) organization that allows you to showcase Disney as a meetings solution

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Conventions sales experience and with ability to developing new markets
  • Knowledge of meetings and conventions including market segments, trends, national and local competitors, processes and work flows
  • Experience hosting site inspections and client entertainment opportunities
  • Experience with social and networking skills and awareness of cultural sensitivity/diversity
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Proficiency with Social Media technology in a sales environment
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions necessary to operate in a Windows environment and other technologies
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays and willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of market conditions and buyers within the greater Orlando area and other important markets
  • Understanding of the Disney product line to include Resorts, Parks, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Institute, Disney Event Group and our international destinations
  • Proficiency with Siebel or a similar sales/service information management system
  • Knowledge of the Disney Meetings product
  • Experience working with Zoom, Teams, Business Objects, DSCS, Concur or SAP
  • Familiarity with Disney E-Tools: Slide Rocket presentations, e-communication tool, marketing resources and others as developed

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
