Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Accounting Analyst will ensure the proper accounting and financial reporting for the capital project creation, administration, and analysis as a part of the TWDC capital processes. Provide excellent customer service to business units by creating, maintaining, and analyzing the capital project work for each Business Unit. Perform analysis of current spend vs budgeted spend, update projects based on project manager information, and analyze accruals on a timely basis. Following the US GAAP accounting rules, ensure that PIC work is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Controls and Disney Policies. Work to streamline and smooth the current PIC process to meet the needs of the business units, through change management and efficiency creation.

This position is a newly created project position on the Fixed Assets team. This position will be responsible for the full Capital PIC process, from creation of capital projects, accruals for depreciation and capital, project changes, and close of project cycle. On average, this position is responsible for six larger business areas within the TWDC segments, spanning fifteen sub areas of project work. They will be responsible for streamlining the current processes for PIC work, and change managing the processes for all areas. The analysis and Accounting segregation performed by this position has a direct impact on the Enterprise Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Cash Flow Statements as well as a direct impact into the tax deductions and property tax payments performed by Corporate Tax.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and close projects throughout the capital project life cycle for multiple segments and areas
  • Maintain JotForms and SAP PIC super user information
  • Prepare and analyze open capital information on a timely basis
  • Perform accruals journal entries for depreciation, AUC reclasses, and capital spend
  • Maintain journal entry and deliverables logs for SOX compliance
  • Work directly with project managers to update project information as needed
  • Manage and submit SOX controls related to PIC process monthly
  • Partner with segment finance/accounting teams to analyze cause of change and balance sheet flux
  • Provide quarterly depreciation forecast information to the Fixed Asset Tax Team
  • Standardize PIC process for Fixed Assets team, streamlining the process to meet business needs
  • Facilitate meetings with management to address accounting/company policy guidance
  • Understand technical/engineering aspects of assets to clarify or challenge associated costs
  • Train/coach new/lowered-tier staff
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Policies
  • Respond to customer inquiries and ad hoc requests in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with BU management
  • Assist in ad-hoc Fixed Asset team projects and goals

Basic Qualifications:

- 3 to 5 years of experience working in Accounting
- Experience working in Fixed Assets
- Demonstrate ability on MS Excel Functions and Formulas
- General knowledge of construction projects
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- ZMAXX and SAP journal entry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP PIC module
  • General knowledge of Attractions, Entertainment, and Hotel projects
  • General knowledge of hardware and software development
  • SAP knowledge

Required Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or similar

Preferred Education

  • Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, an MBA or similar
