This role will be a part of the Cloud & Data Transformation Engineering organization who providing next-level cloud and data services to unleash digital magic for Disney. As a Sr Staff Product Engineer, this person will be responsible for defining the product line vision, establishing a consistent customer rhythm of business, and building a deep roadmap and backlogs that prioritizes the highest value for users. This role requires a servant leader mindset and someone who is both technically capable and highly adept at building strong partnerships that deliver critical organizational outcomes. This role will be responsible for developing foundational services and capabilities that enable an integrated experience across the portfolio of Cloud & Data Transformation Engineering services and capabilities.
The ideal candidate is technically adept in software development lifecycle (SDLC) platforms, multi-cloud capabilities, hosting and data capabilities, as well exemplary leadership and communication abilities (both verbal and written); this role will partner closely with our customers in both business and technology roles as we meet and exceed their business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Performs market and industry analysis of trends and conditions for products, platforms, and features for the relevant product line
Defines strategy, vision, & prioritizes roadmap for the product line
Ensures consistent customer rhythm of business is established that corrals both customer sentiment feedback, as well as customer data that enables prioritization requests and enhancements for the product line
Engages with customer and organizational leadership to deeply understand unarticulated needs, successes, and new opportunities; then conveys that information to the team in a manner that is traceable and actionable.
Leverages data, strategic direction, and feedback loops, prioritizing the highest value outcomes first
Leverages an Agile framework, partners and collaborates with engineering team to ensure the right work is prioritized and delivered; communicates expectations to stakeholders
Manages budget requirements for projects, prepares Project Authorization Requests (PAR) for funding, and provides analysis of feasibility, cost, and ROI for ideas
Leverages techniques to increase collaboration, predictability, and transparency for the team while promoting a culture of experimentation and innovation and maintaining best practices
Participates in the team representing Disney on engineering community meetings
Basic Qualifications:
7+ years in software engineering, product engineering, or systems engineering teams
4+ years cloud technologies experience
Proven experience setting strategic vision, large scale application deployments, managing SDLC platforms & tools, and resolving issues that impact design, product success, or address future technologies
Ability to work with large data sets to analyze and interpret business results
Experienced in SCRUM/Lean Agile frameworks
Ability to influence, take calculated risks, make sound business decisions, and resolve conflicts as needed
Excellent interpersonal, business development, and communication skills (both written & verbal for both technical and non-technical audiences; has an ability to work well with engineering, creative, and marketing leaders – including senior executives
Positive can-do partnership attitude while working with teams, cross-functional teams and cross-functional business units
Must be detail oriented, self-organized, and capable of simultaneously tracking and prioritizing multiple efforts
Ability to synthesize robust and cost-effective technical solutions against customer requirements providing buy versus build decision making
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science
Cloud Certification/s
Working knowledge of scripting & programing languages (Python, Go, etc.)
Experience managing multiple engineering projects across public and private cloud solutions, cloud application development platforms, tools and utilities
The hiring range for this position in California is $180,646 to $242,330 per year and in Washington State is $189,256 to $253,880 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
