Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager, Controllership is responsible for the accounting processes and deliverables for all The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) lines of business in the local market in compliance with accounting standards and company policies. He/she will liaise on a day to day basis with local and regional Finance, local business operations, regional Tax, Treasury and Legal teams and the centralized Accounting teams in Mumbai and Shanghai. The Assistant Manager, Controllership will be directly reporting to the Controller for Southeast Asia.



  • Local tax invoice handling
  • VAT account posting & reconciliation
  • Withholding tax filing, posting & reconciliation
  • Supporting the TWDC tax team (e.g. inform / execute / interpret changes in the local regulatory environment)

Local Audit on-site support

  • Preparing financial statements and related supporting schedules for statutory audits
  • Working with external audit team and TWDC statutory and tax teams to ensure compliance with local statutory and tax requirements
  • Supporting TWDC tax team on tax audits, if any
  • Supporting TWDC teams on government audit for incentive application etc.
Local support for Legal and Treasury teams
  • Supporting the legal / treasury teams for Corporate law compliance requirements (e.g. Board Meetings, Resolutions for various purposes etc.)
Local contact for Regulatory Authorities
  • Be a physical presence in the local market and connect with required local authorities if necessary
  • Go to tax office/communicate with local tax officer for physical filing and window inquiry
  • Go to bank for physical cheque, bank statements, confirmation, over the counter inquiry and certificates
  • Go to statistics offices to submit government survey, etc.
Business Partnering / Business Insights
  • Be an in-market point of contact for Global process owners like Credit & Collection, T&E (Corporate card)
  • Interface with business / finance teams as a:
  • (1) Controllership point of contact between the local business and the centralized organization in Mumbai and Shanghai
  • (2) Enable workflows, especially related to revenue between sales / operations / finance and the centralized organization in Mumbai and Shanghai
  • (3) Responsible and owner of physical storage and retrieval of documents as required under law
Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Preparation of financial reports such as BS and P&L fluctuation analysis
  • Perform monthly and quarterly closing and follow up on the long-time outstanding item.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet reviews and follow up on the long-time outstanding item
  • Preparation of cashflow projections
  • Analysing complex financial reports and records
  • Work closely with SSC, finance and business teams to ensure all the transactions have been captured properly
  • Work with SSC teams for quarterly deliverables and variance analysis
  • Understand company-wide accounting policies and apply relevant policies appropriately
  • Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes with aim of maintaining the current high standard of service provided
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the controllership and finance team or with other departments
  • Ad-hoc accounting tasks as may be assigned by the Controller

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or related major
  • At least 5 years’ experience in working with both Big 4 audit firms and multinational company, preferred in a regional role
  • CPA or equivalent is required
  • Solid knowledge of both USGAAP and IFRS, as well as Philippines taxation and regulatory requirements
  • Written and verbal English fluency
  • Experience in preparing and presenting financial and management reporting deliverables
  • Knowledge on SAP accounting software an added advantage
  • Strong understanding of accounting and controls impacting business areas
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage on-time delivery of effective solutions
  • Strong attention to details

  • Independent and self-driven, and has positive outlook towards work and getting things done
