Job Summary:

Pixar’s Render Pipeline Group (RPG) designs, develops, and supports the scheduling system and user tools that help create our award-winning movies and Disney Streaming content. We work to maintain a healthy, efficient, and scalable render farm, and keep the farm running smoothly for the shows. Each production pushes the limits of animation technology in unique ways, so our architecture needs to be dynamic by design. Our team balances support needs and engineering work on many scales, from individual to system-wide. We're looking for a teammate who enjoys helping people as much as they enjoy deploying a satisfying fix or crafting a solution to a problem on a larger scale. As an engineer in RPG, you will support, maintain, and improve the software and systems used to schedule renders to our 130,000+ core render farm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing clear, accurate and helpful responses to farm-related questions, whether engaging with artists or engineers

  • Monitoring render farm health and digging into issues, even when the answer's not obvious

  • Crafting readable code that uses automated tests to ensure correctness

  • Contributing to our daily morning stand-ups and retrospectives (bi-weekly)

  • Reviewing others' code in a thoughtful manner and being receptive to having your code reviewed

  • Participating in a rotation of off-hours on-call support

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

  • 2+ years experience with programming skills in one or more languages (Python, Go, Rust, etc.)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate on a team

  • Top-notch troubleshooting skills, particularly under Linux

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with lsof, strace and process communication

  • Experience with data science or analyzing large datasets
