The Digital Competitive Intelligence & Innovation team in Glendale, CA oversees digital research projects for Disney Parks & Resorts Digital. As part of the Disney Parks & Resorts Digital Innovation team we produce research analysis and strategic trend reports with a digital-focused lens to inform and impact departments across the division, including Innovation, Product, Design, and Development.
Disney Parks & Resorts Digital (DPRD) is a division of the Walt Disney Company that is responsible for the creation of online, mobile, and other digital experiences at Disney’s vacation brands, including Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Shanghai Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, and other subsidiaries. DPRD is responsible for the design, development, and upkeep of Disney Resorts websites and mobile applications (i.e. Shop Disney Parks, My Disney Experience app, waltdisneyworld.com, etc.) to help Disney guests have a seamless digital experience.
As the Digital Competitive Intelligence & Innovation Intern, you’ll work closely with senior Catalysts in research and Innovation with an opportunity to show your skills on a broad range of problem solving projects. You’ll act as a source of reference for the Disney Parks and Resorts Digital business by conducting secondary research and competitive intelligence on digital topics ranging from consumer behavior, eCommerce trends, competitor performance, web or mobile design, etc. You will learn how to search, interpret, and challenge content from research vendors and shape them as deliverable reports. Besides having strong research experience, you’ll be able to work with an amazing team to support the execution of multiple projects that deliver concepts and BIG Ideas.
A day in the life …
Partner and Produce ideation sessions supporting the Digital Competitive Intelligence & Innovation teams
Creative research, identifying and sharing the latest trends in, technology, business, and design
Support and administer our internal insights portal
Manage project timelines in accordance to established deadlines and processes.
Answer research requests and write up a clear report answering key questions
Develop “benchmarks” or competitive intelligence reports comparing digital features from different lines of business
Collaborate with various teams (Technology, Design, Content Strategists, Product Management, etc.) to provide the valuable research insights needed to create Disney Parks and Resorts digital experiences
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Professional demeanor and eagerness to learn.
Interest in research, emerging technologies and digital experiences.
Fundamental understanding of research and reference best practices
Experience with office productivity and presentation tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Apps)
Familiarity with using research databases (e.g Ebsco, ProQuest, comScore, Forrester, eMarketer, Lexis Nexis)
Basic knowledge and understanding of Disney Parks and Resorts
