Design Asset Specialists are responsible for all assets (both physical and digital) under the care of Walt Disney Imagineering Collections Management. This role will work with Walt Disney Imagineering asset repositories by providing research, managing work in progress documents, and assuring the retention, cataloging, organization and preservation of relevant information. The role assures ease of access to these assets by creative teams, maintenance organizations, business units across TWDC and outside organizations. The Design Asset Specialist provides curator's expertise for the specialized insight, preservation and management of original assets, whether traditional mediums or digital. They have an intimate knowledge of Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Company Intellectual Property and collaborates with legal to supervise approvals for the access and use of archived material.

Responsibilities:

  • Part of project team, responsible for research, collection, cataloging, tagging and preservation of assets.
  • Under general guidance of Lead Asset Manager, provide best practice options for assets.
  • Perform Archival duties as necessary.
  • Makes independent decisions to resolve archiving issues at the single attraction level. Independently prioritizes deliverables to meet project needs.
  • Partner with artists, design teams, curators, show producers and project managers to document all asset types and make them accessible to users.
  • Ability to work with diverse group of people in a cross-functional project environment
  • Ability to anticipate major project milestones and communicate issues to management and project teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years Disney or related project experience
  • Ongoing Education in Collections Care and Art Preservation practices and methodology
  • Overall understanding of the operations, capabilities and services offered by the WDI Collections management team.
  • Computer proficiency with image databases, Photoshop, Excel, Word, File Maker, Illustrator.
  • Art conservation skills and knowledge
  • Knowledge of Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) projects (past, present and future) and artists
  • Basic understanding of WDI project lifecycle and process
  • Must fully understand Creative process and project lifecycle
  • Strong service oriented demeanor
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to meet prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of file types and ability to apply knowledge of metadata and taxonomy.

Required Education

  • Ongoing Education in Collections Care and Art Preservation practices and methodology
