Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.

An employee filling the role of Senior DevOps Engineer, will be responsible for activities that ensure the quality, reliability, and stability of Imagineering Ride Control Systems that power the ride experience. These activities include the design and specification of technical infrastructure that facilitates the integration of software development and delivery from inception to full operation. As a senior member of the engineering team, an employee filling this role would be responsible for developing the technical implementations for fault tolerance, performance enhancement, and configuration management of applications, and may be expected to lead in the implementation of the solutions. This position will be responsible for helping WDI to establish a modern and state of the art software testing and release pipeline for our show system software and components.



Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include creating, maintaining and executing test plans and test cases against our hardware and software platforms, estimating test efforts, analyzing and communicating test results, defect tracking and participating in day to day QA Activities The Senior DevOps Engineer will also spend a significant amount of time in guided exploration of new technologies and solutions that are applicable to the short, medium, and long run goals of WDI's Ride Software group. This position offers the opportunity and responsibility to contribute to the ongoing development and future of our dynamic ride and technology platforms.

•Create applications and scripts to automate and monitor Systems Engineering functions and processes such as archival, data migration, building systems, server configurations, and deployment.
•Activities to ensure the quality, reliability and stability of production systems and services.
•Identifies and defines testing strategy for software systems for approval.
•Responsible for defining functional and performance criteria and confirming that these requirements are achieved in the project plan. Work closely with Software group to manage and develop tools for managing and automating hardware and software resources.
•Leads engagement with software developers and infrastructure engineers to integrate software development and delivery from inception to full operation, ensuring robust released software and systems for control systems, automation, and key infrastructure.
•Automate and support physical and virtual environments for web and application servers for both production and development.
• Participates in researching, testing and implementing optimized technical solutions for our production technology infrastructure
•Leads in the analysis of technical requirements to ensure systems provide required availability, latency, scalability, automation, and efficiency.
•Support projects through the full development lifecycle.
•Produce weekly status reports detailing project activities; and track progress on assignments, comparing budget/schedule to actual and alerting management to any problems that may jeopardize budget or schedule.
•Work closely with Software Development group to manage and develop tools for managing and automating hardware and software resources.
•Assist in developing labor estimates, equipment estimates, and schedules;
•Ensure that team members and management are well informed of activities.
•Develop stand-alone software labor estimates, equipment estimates, and software schedules
•Define specifications and scopes of work for external vendors.
•Manage day-to-day activities and provide direction for multiple teams of test development personnel
• Influences direction of product and service development.
• Provides 3rd tier /extended support to the Systems and Technical Support Engineering group.

Basic Qualifications:

•7-10 years of experience in dev ops design
•Expert proficiency in building software tools and automation (Jenkins)
•Advanced to Expert proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (C/C++), database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, Redis), and networking protocols used for the implementation of supported systems
•Demonstrated skill in testing enterprise distributed systems is strongly desired
•Excellent troubleshooting skills to root cause complex issues required
•Strong familiarity and experience with code repositories
•Strong scripting experience with PowerShell, BASH, shell-scripting, Perl and VBscript.
•Passion for creating and executing test plans
•Passion for developing high quality code and in participating in code reviews
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required Education

•Bachelors Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Engineering from an accredited college or university
