Join the Games and Interactive Experiences team within Disney’s consumer products division, where cutting-edge technology meets the art of making magic. From video games to mobile apps, augmented reality headsets to new experiences powered by virtual reality and artificial intelligence, Disney’s Games and Interactive Experiences team is at the forefront of creating exciting new experiences with a global reach. The team is seeking a Director, Communications, to be based in Glendale, CA. The Director, Communications is responsible for various external and internal communications activities, including media relations, employee communications, partner relations, and strategic planning and messaging. The Director will work closely with Disney’s games and technology teams and external partners to develop communications programs that launch and support products across the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars franchises.

The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive and product teams and will have an important role in influencing decisions and larger business strategies. They will also work closely with external game developers and technology partners to develop communications programs that find new ways to reach fans and influence business, consumer and trade media coverage.

The Director should have a deep understanding of the games and technology industries and culture. A natural collaborator, the Director will build relationships with partners, press and executives, managing all facets of communications to keep global audiences informed in a dynamic environment where change is a constant. They will manage a team in North American and partner across TWDC to help deliver campaigns with maximum business impact. They will also partner with Disney’s international communications leads, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications teams.


  • Provide ongoing counsel to internal product organizations and executive team members on communications strategies and messaging
  • Collaborate with game development partners to develop and execute communications campaigns for Marvel, Star Wars, Disney and Pixar game titles
  • Work with technology partners to develop messaging and strategies to bring new interactive products to market
  • Oversee comms programs and content creation and logistics for key internal meetings, including All Hands meetings, internal messaging, etc.
  • Partner with the marketing organization on message development and social media strategies
  • Issues management and crisis communications

Basic Qualifications

  • Communications expert with a minimum of 10 years of relative communications experience
  • Strong media/press relations experience
  • Must have experience leading and developing a team
  • Experience and interest in the games industry
  • Strong understanding of the tech industry, with experience working with technology media
  • Experience building overall brand visibility and managing corporate reputations through high-impact media relations programs
  • Ability to influence people/lead in a matrixed organization and build strong internal/external relationships
  • High level of corporate professionalism, maturity and political savvy
  • Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations and act decisively
  • Demonstrated track record in leading a communications function and working directly with senior management teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communications with media as company spokesperson
  • Ability to build projects from media perspective and plan special events
  • Disciplined organizational skills in all aspects of job performance with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects and execute quickly while maintaining set list of priorities and focus

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
