Director, Global Content Distribution Strategy

This position within the Global Content Distribution Strategy group is responsible for executing global content distribution strategies and managing domestic and international distribution deals. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of video distribution, content windowing, distribution business models, ultimates, and license agreements. This person will work side-by-side with the Director of New Media Distribution & Digital Business Strategy.

Reporting to the VP, Global Content Distribution Strategy and operating within the Marvel Interactive & Distribution division, the Director will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Marvel’s Television and Digital Media Group content distribution business, including facilitating existing deals, in-home releases and monitoring financial performance to drive profitability and franchise growth worldwide. S/He will work with Marvel content teams and Disney’s global sales organization to evaluate and ensure Marvel’s content portfolio is best positioned for optimizing and implementing the company’s global content distribution strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage global content licensing, distribution strategy, and windowing of Marvel’s Television and Digital Media Group content across media platforms including linear TV, SVOD, VOD, and Pay TV
  • Responsible for the in-home entertainment (EST/DVD/BD) business working in partnership with Disney Home Entertainment
  • Compose and distribute Executive Deal Summaries and key content information to internal stakeholders to support strategic distribution plans
  • Monitor ultimates, inter-facing with Finance, to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded
  • Partner with Disney’s global distribution team to drive independent or multi-territory sales and ensure partnerships serve Marvel franchise priorities while optimizing revenue
  • Oversee domestic and international programming plans of Marvel’s new, current and library titles to ensure desired windowing and ideal rollouts
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with Content teams, Finance, Operations, Marketing/PR and Disney’s cross-LOBs to facilitate content information and asset inquiries/needs related to distribution

Basic Qualifications

  • 4-6 years in media/content distribution; home entertainment experience a plus
  • First-hand knowledge of distribution license agreements
  • Understanding of ultimates/P&Ls
  • Knowledge of domestic and international distribution landscape
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, motivated, efficient, flexible
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong communicator with solid relationship-building skills and ability to interface with cross-function teams and senior executives
  • Track record of making an impact on business growth

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA a plus
