Job Summary:

The Executive Editor Marvel Press supports the Director, Global Editorial in the execution of the yearly editorial strategy by focusing on our company franchise priorities and liaising with third parties involved in the creative process. Responsibilities include guidance and management of the DPW Global Franchise editorial Marvel team executing global product development.

Responsibilities:

You Will:

  • Manage part of DPW Global Franchise Editorial Plan for Marvel Press
  • Manage the assigned editorial team workload and responsibilities
  • Maintain and further foster relationship and workflow with other partners, both internal to Disney, Marvel NY, Marvel Studios, and external
  • Complete and fill in catalog, develop presentations for events, give internal updates to licensees and internal teams
  • Scout and manage freelance writers; scout freelance artists
  • Manage budget for scheduled products
  • Contribute to Global editorial planning and new product development on key franchises and properties
  • Oversee editorial for children’s publishing related to Marvel Press (including formats ranging from YA to readers)
  • Some travel will be required

Basic Qualifications:

You Have:

  • 5-8 years experience in the editorial segment, with a deep knowledge of children’s publishing
  • Competence in managing an editorial team
  • Exceptional planning experience
  • Experience working under rapid development and changes
  • Experience executing quality products on time and on budget
  • Knowledge of Marvel Comics a plus
  • We also ask that you have excellent relationship, negotiation and problem-solving skills as you will work with all levels of a multi-level organization

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in languages, literature, art or philosophy
