The TWDC Intellectual Property Protection (IPP) group serves as a center of excellence for enterprise and segment specific requirements relating to the proactive protection of the company’s most sensitive IP assets. The group embeds resources within segments that create highly valuable IP, and coordinates with segment staff in order to design, implement, manage, and optimize programs specific to these segment requirements and business objectives.


The TWDC IP Protection Manager is based in Glendale, CA, and is responsible for managing TWDC Intellectual Property Protection’s portfolio of projects and initiatives in support of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) that will drive a culture of risk avoidance throughout DCPI pertaining to authorized use and protection of TWDC Intellectual Property portfolio.

Overall responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain IP protection initiatives that support both DCPI and TWDC requirements pertaining to use guidelines/controls, for both internal and 3rd party stakeholders 

  • Develop standard training material for both internal and 3rd party stakeholders to support related initiatives and to aid DCPI in maintaining a culture of IP protection throughout the enterprise 

  • Manage and ensure the quality of services provided by the TWDC IP Protection team, including but not limited to IP Workflow Assessments, Policy Management, and Training & Awareness programs 

  • Provide subject matter expertise and support to departments such as Global Loss Prevention, Information Security, Licensing and Legal on IP related initiatives 

  • Support DCPI departments in the necessary steps towards remediation of leak incidents 

  • Develop and maintain a centralized program management system for tracking projects and operational 
initiatives and identify key deliverables and milestone dates 

  • Establish weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to provide stakeholder updates key performance indicators 
and/or risks to ensure alignment and obtain support as necessary 

  • Implement and maintain resource utilization metrics for both full time and third-party resources 

  • Work with Licensing and Legal to ensure contracts and related disclaimers support leak reduction / IP protection 

  • Collaborate with Corporate and DCPI Legal and Finance partners to generate required SOWs & Purchase 
Orders, enable accurate financial reporting and ensure that budget related anomalies are detected and reported 

  • Participate in the strategic planning of IP Protection services and identify opportunities to better service the 
requirements of segment stakeholders 

  • Utilize change management skills to ensure successful project implementation and adoption 

  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with program stakeholders and key operational contacts. These 
relationships must be utilized to collect information relating to the effectiveness of existing services, and opportunities to better support these groups through service enhancement or implementation of additional services, within or complementary to the IP Protection steering committee / governance framework.

  • 8-years’ experience successfully managing technical projects from inception through completion, leveraging a variety of project management skills and methodologies
  • 5-years’ experience successfully aggregating complex, diverse and sometimes contradictory elements into a comprehensive strategy
  • Expertise in strategy development and presentation to management
  • Track record of delivering projects in scope, on time, and on budget

Preferred Qualifications

  • Media & Entertainment, IP Protection, Content security, Licensing and/or retail operations industry experience a plus

Required Education

  • Engineering, Communication or Business 4-year degree or equivalent required
