The TWDC Intellectual Property Protection (IPP) group serves as a center of excellence for enterprise and segment specific requirements relating to the proactive protection of the company’s most sensitive IP assets. The group embeds resources within segments that creative highly valuable IP, and coordinates with segment staff in order to design, implement, manage, and optimize programs specific to these segment requirements and business objectives.


The TWDC IP Protection Manager, WDI/WDPR reports into the Sr. Manager of Intellectual Property Protection, WDI/WDPR based in Glendale and is responsible for managing TWDC Intellectual Property Protection’s portfolio of projects and operational activities in support of Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) and Parks & Resorts (WDPR).

Overall responsibilities
  • Maintain a centralized program management system for tracking for all projects and operational initiatives and identify key deliverables and milestone dates
  • Provide updates to stakeholders to identify and communicate accomplishments or risks on various levels, such as at an activity, project, pillar or program level, as required for weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Support WDI and WDPR on identified priorities and act as a subject matter expert to supplement these initiatives
  • Ensure that Intellectual Property Protection team members are informed of project and activity priorities, and associated target delivery dates
  • Implement and maintain resource utilization metrics for both full time and third party resources
  • Collaborate with Corporate and WDI/WDPR Legal and Finance partners to generate required SOWs & Purchase Orders, enable accurate financial reporting and ensure that budget related anomalies are detected and reported appropriately
  • Manage and ensure the quality of services provided by the TWDC IP Protection team, including but not limited to IP Workflow Assessments, Policy Management, and Training & Awareness programs
  • Participate in the strategic planning of IP Protection services and identify opportunities to better service the requirements of our stakeholders
  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with program stakeholders and key operational contacts. These relationships must be utilized to collect information relating to the effectiveness of existing services, and opportunities to better support these groups through service enhancement or implementation of additional services, within or complementary to the IP Protection steering committee / governance framework.
Specific responsibilities
  • Ensure that all WDI/WDPR IP Protection projects are managed and delivered within a predetermined and agreed timeline, scope and budget;
  • Implement and maintain a centralized work plan for all operational activities and projects, and provide an appropriate avenue (status meetings, one on one’s, written updates, etc.) to gather and collate status updates from team members
  • Manage relationships with third party vendors, as necessary, in order to support relevant projects;
  • Collaborate and coordinate effectively with relevant business units and third party associations, such as the CDSA, in order to foster cross-segment synergies and standardization of security best practices
  • Oversee Site Security and Application Security Programs’ projects (i.e. Software Development) and aid to make these global programs’ assessments consistent and effective according to WDI/WDPR IP Protection policies and standards
  • Ensure IP Protection Policy Management, IP Workflow Assessments and Training/Awareness related programs support the needs of the business units and efficiently support and align to internal TWDC IP Protection operations
  • Responsible for working with product owners related to the development of software applications that support the IP Protection team and external stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are met
  • Support the generation, implementation and maintenance of training materials to ensure that IP Protection stakeholders fully understand their responsibilities in relation to training and awareness of their teams

  • 8-years’ experience successfully managing technical projects from inception through completion, leveraging a variety of project management skills and methodologies
  • 5-years’ experience successfully aggregating complex, diverse and sometimes contradictory elements into a comprehensive strategy
  • Expertise in strategy development and presentation to management
  • Track record of delivering projects in scope, on time, and on budget

Preferred Qualifications

  • Media & Entertainment, IP Protection, Content security, themed entertainment/attractions industry experience a plus

Required Education

  • Engineering, Communication or Business 4-year degree or equivalent required
