- This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.

Job Summary:

ABC News Operations is seeking a skilled specialist able to work in a 24/7/365 Network News environment. This full-time Los Angeles based Production Specialist position must be able to support a variety of computerized systems including IP workflows and training.

The LA bureau supports all ABC News platforms including Good Morning America, World News with David Muir, GMA3, ABC News Live, The View, The Tamron Hall Show, Nightline and ABC News Studios.


  • Responsible for deployment of Los Angeles Bureau operational systems, including IP, fiber, computerized edit rooms and newsroom robotics.
  • Seek out and embrace new technologies for newsgathering, introducing them to support operations and news bureau systems.
  • Travel to breaking news, or planned news event locations, providing onsite systems support in a supervisory capacity.
  • Assist in system design, purchasing, vetting new technology, construction, and commissioning of new technologies in the field.
  • Familiarity working with software and IP systems that are commonly used across the streaming television industry including Haivision encoding/decoding, Clearcom LQ systems, Premiere, Avid, Pepwaves, Freespeak, Dante systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with multimedia systems and computers in our production environments.
  • Flexible shifts and weekends.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing the previously mentioned skillset in day to day support of a television bureau.
  • Windows server administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management systems
  • Working knowledge of broadcast television technologies
  • Must have strong communication skills and be a team player
  • Self-motivated, positive thinker able to prioritize conflicting tasks.
  • May be required to bend and lift 50 pounds and climb ladders
  • Flexible hours/Domestic & International travel, weekends, holiday, as well as occasional overnight shifts will be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of broadcast TV facilities, Wysicom, Avid, Fastserve, Nexis, Media Central environments, Premiere, Dante, Clearcom workflows a necessity.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management systems (file based workflows, media acquisition, transcoding/encoding and NAS/MAMs).
  • Working knowledge of broadcast television technologies including SMPTE 2110/HD-SDI/4K/HDR formats as well as traditional 720p/1080p signal types


Bachelor’s degree and equivalent work experience with an emphasis in Networking or Engineering.
