Program Outline

The Illusion Studio’s Animatronics Figure Trainee Program will introduce the individual to the skills required to manufacture Audio-Animatronics® Figures for Disney Parks. Each participant will develop new skills in several areas: Mechanical (machining, welding, and assembly), Electrical Assembly, and Surface Development (plastics, mold-making, 3D printing, and others).
The program specifically targets skills required in our diverse workforce such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication through a variety of hands on modules and on-the-job training. Trainees will be immersed in Disney culture while creating magical memories for our guests.

Responsibilities:

This is a full time (40 hours per week) role based in Glendale, CA. After general orientation, including one or more programs held at various Disney properties, participant’s rotate through three Illusions Studio areas where they receive hands-on training and development while contributing to ongoing Project deliverables in:
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Surface Development

The time spent in each area is approximately four months. Participants receive exposure to a variety of projects and have ample time to practice the skills of the studio. During this phase the participants will also work together as an independent team to produce a small animated figure.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Communicate clearly and candidly.

  • Demonstrate respect for your tools. Know how to hold a tool, operate a tool, prepare your work space, and clean up afterwards.
  • Have formal training in one or more of these areas:
    • Welding
    • Machining or tool making
    • Mold making
    • FRP layup
    • Electrical cabling or electronic assembly

Required Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required

Preferred Education

  • Associate degree, Trade School Education, manufacturing technology certification, or some related job training is preferred
