Our ideal candidate has a broad knowledge of theaterical, interactive and theme park design, and a passion for innovation in development of new attractions and experiences. You will be central to a very large, dynamic and creative team, so it is essential you are a “people person” and thrive on building collaborative partnerships. Your advocacy for collaborative interdisciplinary design will be core as you reach across studios and disciplines, supporting project teams with an eye toward maximizing the capabilities of the design staff.”

The Development Studio Artist Manager provides overall Business Management and operational support, and ensures consistent business direction to the Development Studio Executive. Provides administrative support to staff for functional issues. Nexus for detailed resource plans, operating budgets, personnel, training/development, software and equipment needs, access to 3D assets and image licenses and other operational studio needs.


  • Provide leadership to design team; mentoring and guidance to personnel in the department
  • Mitigate functional management issues such as project assignment changes, employment status, relocation issues, employee disputes and other employee concerns
  • Identify training and development opportunities and needs for the staff. Work with, outside instructors, and plan/implement a cost-effective program. Onboarding for interns and new hires
  • Work closely with Leased Worker Agency management on multiple issues – staffing needs, contract administration, resource plan, interview sessions, etc. - related to their contract with WDI
  • Assist in managing the overall employee Performance Evaluation process
  • Develop, maintain and manage department resources on a regular basis. Analyze the plans by project, by person and by department. Work with the Studio Executives, Creative Directors and Producers to ensure that the projects are adequately staffed and all the resources are fully utilized
  • Plan the efficient and effective use of department staff and resources. Work with the Division Planners and Finance Analysts to ensure that the resource plan ties with schedule and budgets
  • Manage the day to day changing requests for talent, assessing project needs and assigning both internal resources and recommending outside resources as appropriate
  • Manage the overall department operating budgets. Prepare, review and justify budgets at the beginning of the fiscal year. Review and manage actual spending and transfer rates on a monthly basis
  • Work with Finance Analysts to ensure accurate forecasting
  • Interface with all levels of Creative Show Studio and WDI leadership and other business units
  • Work in environment with diplomacy and discretion

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years experience in a business management and operational role
  • Knowledge and familiarity with project life cycle, timeliness of deliverables
  • Ability to manage multiple details and deadlines
  • Ability to comprehend design and development process, and knowledge of the professional trades that support that process
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Posses strong business acumen
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proven track record of managing & leading people

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about the projects under development within Imagineering

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • 4 year college degree
