Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers are responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
Theme park projects are complex. The Business Technology team develops web-based tools to help projects stay on time and on budget.

We are seeking a Software Developer, Senior to help build an entire ecosystem of Imagineer-facing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design for specific applications that are critical for the organization. Lead technical prioritization, planning, and roadmapping
  • Lead technical diligence and specification for externally purchased systems
  • Run code reviews for complicated software systems with multiple development teams and vendors
  • Write significant software components of important systems, build prototypes to test out ideas
  • Design the overarching information architecture and data systems that span all of our applications
  • Contribute to system architecture, including configuration management, networking, and information security

Basic Qualifications

  • 6-years of medium/large-scale software experience, including architecture and application development
  • Deep knowledge of a modern backend web framework (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Django, Spring, Node.js)
  • Deep knowledge of databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of information security processes surrounding enterprise deployments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with linux-based, automation-driven system engineering
  • Experience with linked data (RDF)

Required Education

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent
